At 8 at night a knock on the door had Dick in arms. This had to be the "bad" thing that he felt was coming. Opening the door cautiously, he found Bruce Wayne standing there awkwardly."You might as well come in," Dick sighed. "Would you like some tea?" Bruce shook his head no as they sat down.
Both men sat there staring at each other. Each sizing the other up. Trying to find the words to interact with the other, and failing miserably. Both just staring. Blue against blue. Never looking away. Never giving the other opportunity to harm the other.
"What do you want," Dick finally caved. He wanted his adoptive parent out before Damian came back. And they had already let an hour go by, by not talking.
"I want to apologize," Bruce whispered. "I... I didn't realize... not until you both were gone. I thought he wasn't trying. That he was only here because his mother said he had to be. That he didn't want to be here."
This only angered Dick. He was quickly on standing in front of Bruce. His fingers clenched tightly onto the fists.
"Not want to be?" The younger man screeched. "She came after your supposed death and ordered him back." Bruce was almost positive the younger man was going to punch him in the face. "Ordered Bruce," he growled. "I fought in your place for Damian to stay here, in Gotham. He chose to stay here." Dick Grayson was livid by this point. "I told you. Hell even Alfred told you. Did you listen?"
"No," Bruce Wayne was nearly in tears. "I have no true excuses, but what I said was true." He then slowly stood up from the couch. "Thank you for listening. I'll show myself out."
