Two days had passed since Ace's arrival and things were already changed. Jack had reintroduced Ace to the crew, and Kayla was being as close to Jack as humanly possible. Ace watched them from across the room, she knew this wasn't going to work. Ace walked into what was her room and pulled out her duffle bag. She caught sight of herself in the mirror and glared. She was weak. She couldn't let her relationship with her former partner affect her. Not now anyways, she'd deal with that once she was healed. Ace sighed and began stuffing her things into the duffle bag. She stopped as she opened a drawer and caught sight of an envelope. Curious, she opened it to see pictures of her and Jack. Pictures that had been framed before. He doesn't want you, you should have known that... it's pitiful if you think he still cares about you in that way... Ace squeezed her eyes shut. No, she wasn't about to let The Enchantress have her fun. Ace shook her head and began going through the photos, taking a few before pacing them back in the drawer. Ace staggered as she saw the wispy figure behind her in the mirror's reflection. Ace spun around to see the witch hovering over the bed, a smirk on her face. You can't really have thought I'd stay away forever- you know better than anyone else you are bound to me, whether you like it or not. Ace growled lowly, not bothering to control her demon. "I could do without you. If you would just let me get a grip on reality it'd be much easier for me. It's be easier for you as well if you'd give me time and space." The witch laughed. If we had time for that your highness I would. But we don't have time. You know that. Ace shook her head a frown on her face. "I didn't actually. I just want more time to-" The witch hissed at her, moving to be inches from the girl's face. "More time for what?! To suffer? There's nothing here for you. He moved on so quickly- does that not raise suspicions? How can you be so confident that he really cared?" Ace squeezed her eyes shut. "No- your wrong... your just trying to get inside my head," The Witch chuckled darkly, "Am I? Think about it- if he really did care he wouldn't be around Carter all the time. He wouldn't encourage her acts of affection." Ace stopped, she did have a point. Jack had been encouraging Kayla's acts of affection. Ace's stomach churned at the thought of him having a thing with her. Ace sighed resolving to pack her bags. The Witch watched with a disapproving glare. "Think your highness- if he was so concerned of your whereabouts, he would have sensed your life force, even through Oblivion. He knew you were alive. He just didn't care. He decided he'd rather spend his days with Kayla Carter. You weren't worth it. You weren't worthy of his love- he ripped out your heart only to dangle it in front of you. He's a cruel bastard. You should have known that, Ace. After all, you are the Masked Marionette, the Joker's Daughter, the True Heir To Gotham's throne, The Clown Princess Of Crime, The Angel Of Darkness!" Ace flinched away at each title. Each one was a reminder of the pain. Most started out as pet names between her and Jack, but they all soon became a part of her title. Part of her. Ace shook herself out of her reverie. She wasn't dealing with this now. She slung the duffle bag over her shoulder and started out of the room. She stopped outside the bedroom door and pulled out her phone, ready to text her former partner about her departure.

She paused, her finger hovering over the keyboard. Why should she tell him? He didn't give a shit with what happened to her. He left her. He left her to die. To suffer. For three years. Ace pocketed her phone and walked through the hallway. She was going home, there was nothing left for her here. She could go home and be with her family, drive with her sister in the R8. Ace stopped in her tracks, tears threatening to spill from her emerald eyes. She was left with no choice. She carried on, keeping her head down- anyone who passed her would know she didn't belong. And that she had accepted that. "Acey? Where are you going?" Ace stopped. The tears began to fall, as she heard him walking towards her. She Jack placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and smiled down at her. Ace stared into the pale green eyes of her ex. The eyes of the one person she'd ever really trusted. Ace sighed, "I can't stay here anymore." Jack raised an eyebrow in confusion. "What? Why?" Ace tensed, turning away from him. He knew damn well why. Ace felt her blood boiling as he walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her comfortingly. "What's wrong princess?" He cooed. Ace's eyes widened, he was playing with her. A game of cat and mouse. Her mind raced as his hands ran down her sides. Was this really what he was doing? She pushed him back as his head moved to rest atop hers. He frowned as she pulled back, his pale eyes glaring into hers. Ace backed away slowly, her arms wrapping around her body. "I- I can't stay here. I can't." Jack nodded, "I understand you want to leave- I just don't know why..." Ace sighed, "I've seen the way you look at her. You look at her the way you used to look at me. I can't stay knowing you feel for her what I still feel for you." Jack frowned, his eyes dulling as he nodded. "That's... understandable..." Ace averted his gaze and stared at the ground. "I just- it hurts to much. It only adds to the pain. I'm sorry." She looked up at him pitifully. Jack walked over to her and embraced her, his hands resting on her back. "What are you apologizing for? I get it- it's hard, your still adjusting to reality." Ace smiled and pulled him tighter in their embrace. "It's just... so hard knowing that everything is just- different," Jack nodded, "I know. I promise you- I will help you. You were my partner, nothing can change that." Ace giggled softly, "Oh really? I thought everything had changed?" Jack chuckled pulling back and leaning over her. "The pet that you were partner didn't. I didn't even give Kayla the title." Ace's eyes widened in interest. "Really? I thought you would've given her it right away, considering how quickly you gave up looking for me when you knew I was alive."
