Chapter 2 Jenny My Dads Girlfriend Mellanie

I wake up to the sound of my bedroom door opening. I look over and see my baby sister, Meagan quietly entering my room. I could hear my parents screaming downstairs. I guess my mother is visiting today. My parents got divorced about five years ago soon after Meagan was born when my mother walked in on my dad with Jenny, Meagan's caretaker.

I was adopted seven years ago when I was nine after my mom was told she couldn't have kids. Meagan was born two years later I all the attention that was once directed towards me was placed on her. Now they barely talk to either of us. Dad and Jenny are still together so she takes care of us.

I don't hate her like you'd expect. My parents were never very good together and separated them and she's the only one who cares about me.

Before I was adopted I lived in Mrs. Hiddlestons House for Spectacular Children. thinking back on it the name makes me sick. I was the oldest kid there besides Ashton. He was just a year older than me. We were best friends. I almost didn't get adopted because I refused to leave, but Ashton talked me into leaving. Sometimes I really miss him but it's been seven years. No way he still thinks about me.

"Mellanie?" Jenny calls through my door. I mumble to let her know I'm awake. I walk into my closet and lie on the floor hoping I'll get a better philosophical perspective from down here. I take clothing very seriously, my outfit must be perfect. I stand and pick out a simple peach dress. I pair it with a white belt and floral sneaker heels.

I sit down at my and throw my hair around a bit not wanting to do anything with it. I get it to the Perfect combo of fluff and wave. I choose a white bow and stick it right behind my right ear.

My phone pings. 'Rose' "Hey Mel could I get a ride my mom took my keys?!"

I text her 'of course' back and get all my shit together. I grab my keys from the counter and get out the door avoiding my parents at all costs. I hop in my BMW convert alb not bothering to open the door since the top is already down. Rose lives on the way to school anyway so we carpool a lot.
