"Where's the money bitch?!",the big guy standing over the girl asked."I-I promise I'll get it tomorrow.","Wrong answer,",he said as he started winding up to punch."Hey dickweed,you lay a hand on her,and I'll murder your fucking family then make you have sex with their corpses!"I yelled to make him leave,which he did*Everyone in this school is terrified of me*I walked over to the girl to help her up,so I offered my hand,and she accepted so I pulled her up."You ok?He won't bother you anymore because of me",I said as she was now standing."Tha-thank you,I'm sorry but",she said as she started hugging me and crying her eyes out,"the first person to be nice to me is the one everyone is scared of.",she said in between her sobbing.I had no idea how to react as another person has ever hugged me before,so I just kind of stood there awkwardly."You're Zen right?The king of terror?",she asked as she finally calmed down."Yeah that's me,though as you can see I'm really not that bad,what's your name?",I asked as I never caught it,"Elizabeth",she said as I finally got a good look at her.She was short,her hair was long and white and her eyes were a beautiful shade of red."Well Elizabeth,I'm gonna call you Ruby,cause your eyes look like two big rubies,"I said as she finally pulled away."O-Ok",she said as most of her face was now red.I decided to walk her home at least since the city's really not safe.As we were walking we made small talk and I learned she'd been in the same classes as me since I moved here.When we got to her house I could here very load and angry voices coming from inside,as we got closer I could see tears starting to form in her eyes."You want to stay at my place,seems pretty bad in there",I asked her so she could avoid what was going on in there."Yeah,please",she said as she clinged to my arm."Hey,you ever flown before?","No,why?","You want to?",I said as my one black feathered wing sprouted from my back."Woah,what are you?",she said as she was mystified by the wing,"I'm possessed by a fallen angel,hence the wing and my eyes,now hang on",I said as we started flying towards my house.The entirety of the flight back home she was clinging to me like crazy and had her eyes shut,and we landed I said,"You can open your eyes now",I said as I placed her down."Oh thank god!",she said with a sigh of relief.I showed her inside of my place,"So uh,welcome.If you want a drink or your hungry help yourself to whatever is inside the fridge,you can sleep on the couch,or if you want the bed go ahead",I said as I grabbed a drink from the fridge and sat on the couch.She sat down next to me not really saying anything for like an hour until she asked,"Why are you doing this for me me?","Cause I know what it's like to have a dysfunctional family,my mom and dad were always arguing,fighting,hell,he even hit me most of the time,then one day he did this weird ritual on me,then he left"."Let's call it a night,sweet dreams",I said as I got up and left the room,going to my bed trying to hold back my tears and anger."Night...",Ruby said weakly as she fell asleep.

Over the next couple of weeks we kept hanging out with her until she felt comfortable enough to meet Vio and Red."Yo Zen",I heard Red say as him and Vio got closer,"Hiii",I heard from Vio after."Hey,glad you guys made it.This is Ruby.","hello...","Ruby,this is Violet and Red,the only two people crazy enough to be my friends",I said to Ruby as she was hiding behind my arm."Aww,she's so shy and cute,how do you know her Zen?",Vio asked."She's been staying at my place from time to time,she's in my class.",I told her as I felt her grip tighten on my arm."We're not going to hurt you,ya know?We're not all bad people",Red told her.She let go off my arm and walked in front of me but she was still relatively close to me.Vio took Ruby so they could talk about girl stuff,so Red and I caught up on stuff."So,how much do you like her?",Red asked catching me off guard."It was that obvious?","Dude,I know you,you aren't normally this nice to people,hell it took you forever to warm up to Vio.","I like her,I like her alot","Then ask her out dude.","She won't go out with me dude,I'm just fear,all I've known is being alone.I don't want to hurt her.","Dude,she's been hanging out with you,only you for weeks,the day you met her she stayed at your place,you two need to be together,at least it'll stop Vio from trying to make us gay.",Red said with a chuckel.He was right,I should.

After the four of us parted ways,Ruby and I were walking back to her place.She looked like she wanted to talk to me about something,but she didn't know how to ask."Something on your mind?I can see your thinking about something.",I said trying to get it out of her."Well,when I was talking to Violet,she asked me if I liked you as more than just a friend,and when I thought about it,my heart raced and I started blushing.",she said while avoiding my eyes.I stopped walking and so did she,I stared into her eyes,I held her small delicate hands,and pulled her a little closer."Ruby....I like you,I want to be with you...",I finally got out.When the words left my mouth,tears welled in her eyes as she threw herself onto me."I want be with you too...",she mumbled into my clothes.After we hugged for what felt like ever we slowly pulled apart,stared iton each others eyes,and then kissed.It felt like lightning had just hit me and my heart was in over time as we pulled apart."I love you"."I love you too."
