News of the new girl coming, quickly makes its way through the school and into gossip. Rumors of what caused the abrupt transfer spread like a wildfire through the halls. From her getting caught doing pot to her being pregnant and moving because of the shame. Adelaide ignores the rumors whispered in her ear and makes her way to her locker, seeing Edward standing and waiting there for her. He opens her locker and grabs her books and place them neatly in her locker before closing it and grabbing her hand. He pulls her toward the practice room hall and they make their way into the room finding Mo, Lei, and Tony waiting.
"Ready?" questions Tony and at Edward's nod hands him the music.
Lei starts out the song softly, "When you hold me in the street, and you kiss me on the dance floor."
"I wish that it could be like that. Why can't it be that? Cause I'm yours." You can hear the emotion in Adelaide's voice as she tries to avoid looking at Edward. "We keep behind closed doors. Every time I see you, I die a little more. Stolen moments that we steal as the curtain falls. It'll never be enough."
Lei picks it back up. "It's obvious you're meant for me. Every piece of you, it just fits perfectly. Every second, every thought, I'm in so deep. But I'll never show it on my face. But we know this, we got a love that is homeless."
Morgan starts the chorus, "Why can't you hold me in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that. Why can't we be like that? Cause I'm yours."
Edward takes a breath before his sweet tenor fills the room, "When you're with him, do you call his name. Like you do when you're with me? Does it feel the same? Would you leave if I was ready to settle down? Or would you play it safe and stay? Girl, you know this, we got a love that is homeless."
Momo joins in as they sing the chorus, "Why can't you hold me in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that. Why can't we be like that? Cause I'm yours?"
Momo drops out and Tony joins Edward for the bridge, "And nobody knows I'm in love with someone's baby. I don't wanna hide us away. Tell the world about the love we making. I'm living for that day, someday."
For the second bridge, Lei takes Tony's place, "Why can't I hold you in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that we could be like that. Why can't we be like that? Cause I'm yours, I'm yours."
Tony's voice takes over as Edward and Lei stop singing, "Oh, why can't you hold me in the street? Why can't I kiss you on the dance floor? I wish that it could be like that. Why can't it be like that? Cause I'm yours."
Momo's belting fills the room, "Why can't I say that I'm in love? I wanna shout it from the rooftops," her voice goes soft. "I wish that it could be like that. Why can't we be like that? Cause I'm yours."
Adelaide's soft and broken voice begins her solo, "Why can't we be like that? Wish we could be like that."
It's silent as they all contemplate the song just sung. They are all amazed by Adelaide's talent in songwriting and Edward turns his attention to her to see her hiding behind her blue hair; he can hear faint sniffling and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. The bell to end the day of school rings and the three girls share a look before leaving Adelaide and Edward alone. Edward debates what to do before he strides over to her and lifts her chin, seeing her stained cheeks.
"Adie, what's wrong.""I-I don't know... I've been feeling these things around you."
"What are you going to do?" conjectures Edward.
"Kiss you." she finally says before fisting Edward's shirt and pulling him down to her.
Adelaide stands on her toes and pulls him deeper into the kiss. The kiss is soft and slow, her testing whether or not he would pull away. His lips press gently against hers as his arms come to wrap around her waist and she stands on the tips of her toes to deepen the kiss as she wraps her arms around his neck. Her fingers play with the bronze strands on the back of his neck and his tangle in her waist-length blue hair. It's only when she needs a breath of air does Adelaide pull away with a shy smile on her face as she looks up at him beneath her eyelashes. She can see something glint in his eyes but can't fathom what it is as a knock on the door breaks their gaze. They turn to see Rosalie grimacing at the two before walking into the room.
