Saturday morning I planned to spend my birthday watching old Disney movies and snacking on junk food. I walked downstairs in my comfy blue hollister sweats and my green sweatshirt. My mom had her keys in her hand and was heading out. "Happy Birthday Lilly! I was just about to go shopping for some food to cook you today. Do you want to come with me?" It wasn't like I didn't want to hang out with my mom, but going to the grocery store wasn't my idea of fun, especially on my 16th birthday. "No thanks. I'm just gonna hang out here." She walked out the door and looked back at me. "Alright, text me if you want anything."

I was watching Freaky Friday and the little boy Harry shook the table and said 'Grandpa pass the milk!' and then he ran away screaming 'earthquake!'.

I wanna be stranded on this island with you. I wanna stranded on this island for two. And I hope it's somewhere far, where only we are stranded on your heart.

I searched for my phone and found it under the couch. I probably threw it under there when I got scared looking at Cruela Devil in 101 Dalmations. "Hello?" I said with a mouth full of oreos. "Lilly! Cody Simpson is filming his new music video on the beach! If you come dressed up, he will let us be in it!" Crystal burst out. I screamed. I had always wanted to meet him! "Can you come pick me up?!" Then I heard a honk outside. "That was John. I have something for you to wear so come get it!" I ran outside and saw John and Crystal in the blue prius. "Here take this and go put it on!" I ran up to my room and unzipped the plastic bag to find a gorgeous dress with a black top and a frilly hot pink skirt. It was the exact one that I had seen online. It fit perfectly and I put on my black pumps. I locked my front door and got in the back seat of the car.

To mom: John is driving me and Crystal to the beach to be in Cody Simpson's video!

"Thank you so much for the dress! How much do I owe you?" Crystal was wearing a hot pink dress with black lace. "Nothing! You are the birthday girl!" I was in such a good mood now. We parked along the sidewalk above the bike path. Then we walked down the stairs which was a challenge in my high heels. There was no one in sight until we walked past a few lifeguard towers. I didn't see Cody Simpson but I liked what I saw. "Surprise!!" Yelled about 100 of my friends and family. There was a stage decorated with pink and blue balloons. "Sammy, Alexis! What are you doing here?" I squealed when I saw my older brother and

my older sister. I hadn't seen them for 2 years. Sammy was a sophmore in college and Alexis was married and got a job as a preschool teacher. "We couldn't miss our baby sisters sweet 16! You really had no idea,

didn't you?" I grinned. "Ya, I was just planning on watching movies and eating junk. This was the best

surprise ever!" I found out that Alexis was pregnant. I was gonna be an aunt! How could this day get better?

I walked over to Emma, John, Crystal, Aris, Matt, and Luke. "I'm so glad all of you could come! Wait

Crystal what about your date with John?" She laughed. "Oh I made that up. I'm surprised you couldn't tell I

was lying. I'm a terrible liar." That was shocking that I believed her. "Wow. Aris what about your grandma

coming from Detroit?" She smiled at me. "That was a lie, my grandma lives in Long Beach and I see her all the time." Then I looked at Emma. "So your brother wasn't coming down from college?" She tried to hold in her laughter. "I don't even have an older brother!" We all burst in to giggles.

"So whose idea was this whole thing?" I tried to yell over everyone. "It was your mom's and my idea. And I had some help from Cole." Emma denied. I couldn't believe that. "Wait, you had talked to Cole before I introduced you two?" She nodded. "Ya it wasn't too hard to pretend like we hadn't met because we had only talked over the phone." I looked around trying to find him. "Where is Cole?" Then the mic turned on. "Hey everybody! First of all, I want to wish a happy 16th birthday to my close personal friend, Lilly Kai!" There was a lot of applause. "In honor of the birthday girl, we are going to perform a few songs. But of course they are her favorite ones!" I was so excited. It was like a concert just for me and my friends, well that's exactly what it was until random people walking by stopped to listen. But I didn't mind, the more the merrier!
