"I'm always there" These words rung in my head. What did it mean? Did I have a stalker? Is someone watching me? These thoughts played a continuous loop in my head.
Sitting on the edge of my bed, I brought my knees to my chest and analysed my whole room, as if the stalker was hiding in the shadows.
I had initially thought it was a prank by Lucas, however, he hasn't been into my room in months. It couldn't have been Alison as she probably forgot how to write.
That only left the conclusion that I was being stalked. Who would want to stalk me? It's not like I'm particularly pretty or athletic. I may get pretty good grades in school, however, there's nothing special about that. I'm a nobody.
My hand reached out to grab the note again when the buzz of my phone made me jump. With adrenaline coursing through my veins, I grabbed my phone to check who had texted me. It was Lucas, and he wanted me to send him my History notes from today as he wasn't paying attention, apparently.
I scoffed before almost replying that it was his own dam fault, but then I remembered that he had done me a great favour today. I replied saying that I'll send them to him tomorrow as I was too tired right now.
Tossing my phone onto my desk, I collapsed into my bed, just done with life. Before I knew it, my eyelids started to droop and I fell asleep.
You know that feeling you get when you're in a dream but it feels so real? That's how I feel right now. The only thing I could see around me was darkness. I stuck my hand in front of my face, eyes squinted, however, nothing. Just pure darkness.
No, wait. There's a speck of light waning in front of me. Guardedly approaching the light, I stood right in front of it, unsure of what to do. That's when it started getting brighter.
Stepping back, I was all but prepared to bolt when a voice whispered in my head "do not be afraid Aliya." By now, I was shitting my pants. What the fuck was going on? "Calm down child" the voice whispered again.
Desperately trying to calm my racing heart, I nonchalantly straightened my clothing and announced firmly "I am not afraid of you." Ironic right? Even without seeing a face, I just knew the figure was smirking at me.
"When the time is right, our paths shall cross. Right now, you are too young to be told the truth..." his voice went soft. However, in my mind, there was only one question. "What truth?" I inquired.
The light started to dim down. I felt like I was moving away from it even though my feet were rooted to the same position I was in right now. I tried to reach out to the light but it was further than I anticipated. I walked towards it to try to grab it again but it just kept getting further and further away from me.
Sprinting towards the light, I was certain I would catch it this time however, no prevail. The light was now so far gone that I was only surrounded by darkness. It engulfed me. I felt like I was going to suffocate. A scream erupted from my throat.
I woke up in a cold sweat, panting. The blanket had ended up on the floor and I was sweating profusely, with goosebumps covering all of my exposed skin. That dream, it wasn't real, right? Dreams aren't meant to scare you, otherwise they would be called nightmares, not dreams.
