Priscilla

I did not want to go. School seemed unimportant, compared to everything else going on around me. "You are going and that's the end of it. Now go put on your uniform." said my mother. I stomped off from her, going to do as I was told.

Now here I was all dressed, being ushered inside this brick prison. The halls were clear, and my mother fussed under her breath at our lateness. We went to the main office, and the woman seated behind the desk, smiled warmly towards me.

"I was wondering where you were. We missed you over the break." She said, leaning up in her seat. "Sorry, we had a late start this morning." My mom lied, and I said nothing. The woman, named Ms. Daisy, frowned slightly towards me.

"Is everything alright?" She pried, with concern in her voice. My face was expressionless, as I nodded my head yes. "She's not having a great day so far." My mother added. Trying to fix the awkwardness.

She squatted next to me, and turned me to face her. "Pórtate bien(behavior yourself)" she scolded, through a fake smile. I eye'd her slightly, but quickly played my part.

"I'm ready for class Ms. Daisy." I grinned her way, and she smiled with relief. "I'm sure your day will get better. This way." She told us, coming from behind the desk. My mother moved to follow us, but I slid to Ms. Daisy. Grabbing her hand as I faced my mother, still smiling.

"Im good now Mommy. You can leave." I told her sweetly. She gaped at me, as I giggled distracting Ms. Daisy from her frozen expression. "Let's go!" I cheered as she chuckled taking me down the hall.

"Alright, Alright." She agreed, finally looking in my mother's direction. "Ms. Jacobs" she questioned, and I noticed the sad look in her eyes. "Um okae. I'll see y'all later." She snapped out of it. My mom turned on her heels, and hurried out the door.

Ms. Daisy faced me with a questioning look. I just smiled her way, dazzling her with my aloofness. "Is everything alright at home Priscilla?" She pried, as I shrugged. "I'm at school. How would I know?" I replied simply.

She laughed slightly, shaking her head as she lead me to class. I held her hand in my left. Keeping my right close to my side. It barely had feeling at this point. Not mention the tiredness I felt from lack of sleep.

Even unintentionally, I always used my right hand. Programed naturally. Down right hard and kind of unbearable. I moved in my sleep, causing shocks that constantly woke me up.

Pretending was becoming harder now as well. I felt confused since I didn't know how to do anything. I couldn't stop using my right, and I doubted I'd last through the day. School took constant pretending and I was tired.

"Here we are." She smiled, bringing me in front of her. "Your in the red wing this year. You did so well last year, the school has brought in a new teacher to help challenge you. " She explained. I nodded, letting her hand go.

"Thank you. See you later" I beamed, waving goodbye. I turned the knob, stepping inside. The classroom had 10 other kids seated inside. They wore the same clothes as me, and sat behind polished desks.

All of them stared at me entering and walking towards the teacher. I let the door swing shut on its own, interrupting her teaching, and her hand remained suspended from writing on the board. "Priscilla? Welcome back dear, but you are late and at the wrong class." She explained, looking sharply in my direction.

A few giggles slipped out, but ceased once she gave them a warning glance. "Your in the class across the hall sweetie." She dismissed me, resuming her lesson. I hesitated, as my eyes swept over my fellow students.
