(Sorry I've been dead, I've been trying to catch up on a million shows, start new ones, watch movies that I've been meaning to watch, make sure I don't die, let my family and friends know I'm alive, and still update my books. That's going well. I'm doing okay, I think, but I might have to take another break? I don't want to, but y'know, I still gotta at least make an attempt at being a normal human. Also, I referenced a song in the first paragraph because I thought it would be funny; though I know it probably isn't. Free hypothetical toaster to those who get the reference.)
Alex slumped against the wall of the closet, wishing that he had brought his phone with him so he could call the others. He curled up into a ball and sighed. This was going to be a long night. He closed his eyes. "If not a rescue, then I at least will get a nap," he muttered to himself, half-singing. Alex drifted off, hoping that he'd wake up in his bed and that it would have all been a dream.
But things are never that simple, are they?
Alex opened one eye at the sound of footsteps coming down the hallway. He didn't want to yell out at them for two reasons. One; Alex was way too tired for this, and would much rather go back to sleep if they weren't in a haunted house and could possibly die. Two; It could be the ghost, disguising themselves as any of the others. So, Alex did the only logical thing he could think of. He yelled anyway. "IF YOU'RE A GHOST, GET OUTTA HERE! IF YOU'RE A FRIEND, GET OVER HERE! IF YOU'RE A DENIS, GET OVER HERE, JUST SLIGHTLY FASTER! THANKS FOR COMING TO MY TED TALK."
Sure enough, the door opened, and there stood Denis. The taller of the two reached out a hand to Alex, who gladly took it and stood up. The latter walked out of the closet and looked around. "Where's the others?" he asked quietly, voice still hurting from shouting. Denis looked surprised, then shook his head and smiled. Something seemed...off about him, Alex just didn't know what it was. "Sketch, Corl and I split up. Sketch and I were paired up, but he ran off to be with Corl. Said he had to 'tell him something,'" Denis replied. Alex grinned. "I knew it;" he said excitedly, "Sketch does like Corl! Sub owes me twenty bucks!" he put his fist in the air in victory. Denis rolled his eyes playfully. "C'mon lets go get the others and tell them I've got you."
Denis and Sketch walked along the corridor they had been set to explore. Bored, Denis and Sketch had made a bet on whether or not they would find Alex and get out of there alive or not. Denis said they would and bet Sketch $3.47. Sketch had given him an odd look. "That's...that's all I have on me right now..." Denis had said quietly, rubbing the back of his neck. Sketch scoffed and crossed his arms. "Well I have four dollars." Denis was about to remark before he ran into a wall, with Sketch bumping into him from behind.
"What the-" he muttered, backing up and looking at the wall. "A dead end? In the middle of a house?" Sketch asked, stepping forward and running his hands over the bricks. Denis inspected the brick wall, completely devoid of any paint or wallpaper at all. "House?" he murmured, more to himself than to the person beside him. "More like a maze." Denis ran his finger along the cement, only to pull back immediately and rub whatever was on his hand on his pants. "What's up?" Sketch asked. Denis stared at the wall in disbelief. "The cement is wet. Almost like it was just built." he replied. Sketch opened his mouth to respond, but someone yelling came from the other side. Sketch and Denis looked at each other, both with the same thought on their mind.
Alex.
(I hope this isn't too short. The internet barely works and it's 1 AM, so I wrote this in a rush. Also because my Monkees playlist is almost over, and I don't wanna play it twice; mainly because I'm too lazy to skip the bad songs, which are all at the end. Oops.)
