The sky growled softly like the belly of a starving monster, the clouds gathering overhead. Black clouds sprawl across the sky, billowing in from the west. Their brassy glare drains colour from houses and trees and burnished cars in driveways, leaving neighbourhoods tinted bronze in the faltering light. The air grows heavy and the humidity presses down, suffocating. The scent of rain is dark and heady. A stillness falls over the street, and in the silence comes a low crackle of thunder, rolling across rooftops to the pattering of tiny raindrops. For a moment, everything stops. Even the wind holds its breath. A streak of hot silver splits the sky, and the downpour begins.

The rain pattered mercilessly onto whatever that stood in its way, ignoring any cries of stopping. You felt the icy cold rain splatter on your body, drenching you wet in mere seconds. With your legs curled up to your chest, you hugged them closely as you let the tears run down your cheeks without reserve. Soon, you were shuddering due to the rain that made you wet from head to toe, but you neither complained nor budge an inch, because something else bothered you more than finding shelter.

Your heart ached more than your feet that had ran from the prison, because you were framed, literally. Your own sisters didn't even recognise you from the double-face. He must have been a great actor to actually fool your bro-con sisters, who you were sure was back at your home enjoying the warmth there. He was with your sisters and relaxing without a care for the real you, who was outside sitting on a bench at the park where the rain was pouring. He could even be in your bedroom and lying there with your sisters reading your books. Just the pure through of it made your blood boil, but your anger did not rival your sadness and dismay. The image of your sisters' look of disgust at you was enough to shatter your already-broken heart again and again. Never had they ever looked at you like that before, like you were the worst scum possible on Earth.

"W-What would Ryuo do in this situation...?" You thought to yourself, sniffing softly as your eyes stung every time you blinked due to how hard you cried. "I-It's no good... I can't think at the moment..."

By now, the rain was pouring uncontrollably without reserve. The grey clouds in the sky didn't seem like clearing up any moment sooner, thunder flashing across the sky, as if it was splitting the sky apart. You slowly got up from the bench and stumbled towards the lake in front of you, which was also located in the middle of the park. Threatening to fall at every wobbly step you took, you stopped right at the edge of the lake and stared hard at the water, which was rippling as the rain fell continuously. Your own miserable reflection stared back at you, causing you to cough a little laugh at how horrible you looked. Your hair was a mess, your face dishevelled, your clothes crumpled and wrinkly from the rain and not washing. Your crestfallen face disappeared from the surface of the water as you stared up at the grey sky. Closing your eyes, you felt the rain running down your face. Giving yourself a moment to embrace the wetness and chilliness, you drew a short breath and clenched your fists lightly. Gently, as if someone was pushing you, you let yourself fall forward into the lake.

Before you were gobbled up by the depths of the lake, you felt the collar of your clothes getting tugged by someone, preventing you from falling. Turning your head around, you slowly glanced from their feet up to their face. An umbrella was casted over the both of you, shielding you two from the rain. Your eyes widened as you saw who it was – it was your best friend, Henmi. Holding the foot of the cake-patterned umbrella, Henmi's dull eyes pierced yours. He was dressed in your school uniform, his schoolbag slung across his other shoulder.

"... What are you doing?" Henmi quietly asked you, his grip not loosening from around your collar, instead applying more force to it.

Before you even had the chance to answer him, the invisible weight in your heart was temporarily lifted due to the relief of seeing your best friend. The moment your mood lightened considerably, fatigue hit you hard. His face swarmed before your eyes, your knees trembling weakly. Not offering you a chance to fall down, Henmi pulled your collar towards him and let you lean against his body. He didn't even care about you being drenched by the rain, letting the water soak into his clothes. Wrapping your arms around his neck, clinging for dear life to prevent yourself from collapsing, you felt the need and urgency to tell him what you witness, but your body wouldn't allow it. The next thing you remember after opening your mouth was getting surrounded in darkness.
