POTENTIAL SUMMARY!
"The brighter the flower, the more dangerous it is."
Everything Lillie Chambers touches becomes a beautiful disaster, and for that reason, she never goes a day without wearing gloves, the fear of the past repeating itself a constant presence in her life. Barely scraping by and living off of her dwindling savings, Lillie knows she needs to find a new job and fast. But what person in their right mind would hire someone that can kill with a single touch?
EXTRA/NOTES!
I'm just gonna jump right into this
So when Lillie was younger, she and her family would go to this cabin deep in the woods every summer just to take a break from life and have some family time in general, and it became a tradition that they did every year. She's an only child and her parents have really busy jobs so this became something Lillie looked forward to every year.
One day when she's eighteen, she's kidnapped while out in the woods: she's taken pretty deep into the woods and thrown into a deep hole where she's left, she presumes, to die. On the third day, she can hear someone moving around above, but she's so dehydrated that she can barely move and she closes her eyes as the sound of a shovel hits her ears.
When she opens her eyes it's completely dark, and she realizes she's been buried alive, but there are these vines and flowers that are wrapped around her, protecting her from suffocating (so creating an air pocket). She manages to dig her way out of the hole and spends the next few days wandering around in confusion only to find herself in front of a desolate cabin. The man who kidnapped/killed her is there and obviously freaks out and goes after her.
Lillie ends up touching his face when she's trying to escape and vines sprout from his throat, thrones rupture through his skin and eyes, etc. Essentially, she killed him from the inside out with the plants and over the next few minutes his body is devoured by the plants, leaving behind the vines and some blood.
After that, she's scarred and has nightmares and worries that her touch will kill anyone she comes into contact with. It takes her a lot of courage to find her way back to her own cabin, which she finds empty and later realizes that she's been missing for around a month. She's so scared that she'll hurt her family that she just takes some clothes and goes back to the other cabin, trying to come up with a game plan.
Bam, like ten years later, she's living in a city and works in a flower shop because 1. they don't do extensive background checks, and 2. people don't look at her weirdly for wearing gloves 24/7. But, obviously, working part-time in a flower shop means that she doesn't make a ton of money, which results in her looking for a new job.
She meets a young woman at the bar one night (the journalist above) and the journalist connects her to Sam who's looking for someone because of:
a) needs a recruit for battle
b) someone is poisoned and they need a cure
c) some other reason if you don't like those
Now, this is where it gets pretty vague because you could take this a lot of different ways and have her enter at a lot of different time periods (like captian america: the winter soldier or captian america: civil war or even sometime in between). It's all up to you and what you think will work best for you!
Tbh, most of this story would be Lillie learning to trust others again (cough, Sam, cough) and up until this point most of the plants she grows are very very dangerous, and a critical turning point would be her creating something as simple as a wildflower.
Now about her powers/extra:
+ she can create, shape, and manipulate plants
+ since she was in such a terrifying situation when she got her powers, majority of the plants she creates are dangerous on some level
+ of course, between the kidnapping and meeting Sam, she'll have gained some control, but she mostly tries to hide it
+ the easiest way for her to create something is skin to surface contact, which is why she wears gloves. with gloves on she can't create without conscious effort, so if she does get scared she doesn't subconsciously turn someone into mulch
+ Lillie does suffer from nightmares and also has claustrophobia
+ and yes, her parents still assume she's dead because she's kept an extremely low profile. she is terrified of hurting her parents and that's why she doesn't let them know she's still alive and battles with herself constantly about this choice
+ this story would be a slow burner, and honestly, I'm cool if you want the relationship to be platonic or romantic because either way, Sam deserves the love.
