Chapter 3 - part 2

"Alright, lets go!", Caitlin said happily as she grabbed my hand making us both run to catch up with Mater. I blushed at the sudden contact.

I felt something, but what do I feel?

~Caitlin's POV~

We arrived at the giant field with cows. We quietly snuck around, Mater got to one, scared it, and tipped it. It made the most hilarious sound as it fell. We started laughing.

Soon enough, it was my turn. "Caitlin, be careful!", Lightning said a little concerned.

"I'm fine, I have done this before. You act just like my dad, well, if I had gotten to see him more.", I replied as I was trying to be a little serious, but I was also starting to get a tad bit sad.

"Did something happen to your dad?", Lightning asked out of curiosity and a tiny bit of sorrow.

"Umm...I don't wanna talk about it.", I said as I looked down at the ground with my eyes closed.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to bring it up.", he said back to me.

It was my turn to tip a cow. Which I did in a quiet and sophisticated manner. The funny sounds that they made as I fell made my smile come back on my face.

"Okay Lightning your turn.", I said nonchalantly.

"Oh, alright.", he replied.

Lightning walked up to the cow, apparently tipping all the cows in the field. It was just like what happened in the movie, except this was his second time cow tipping. I think, idk. I don't remember.

We all had started laughing together. I don't know why, but cows are funny.

"Mooo!!!!", I heard Frank.

Nope, nope, nope, nope I'm out!
In sync me and Mater say,"There's Frank."

Frank appears from the trees and snarls in anger.

We turn around  and start running. With Lightning knowing what's gonna happen next, he ran behind us trying to catch up.

"AHHH-HAHAHAHAHA! He's gonna getcha, he's gonna getcha!!!", Mater said teasingly.

I was lagging behind, oh no. It's getting closer.

~Lightning's POV~

We were running away from Frank. Who was very terrifying by the way. I noticed that Caitlin wasn't beside me. I turned my head back, only to see Frank starting to catch up to her.

I started to get extremely worried and freaked out. I slowed down a little bit so that I could grabbed her wrist. I pulled her towards me and carried her bridal style. I carried her like that till we got back to Radiator Springs.

Once we got back to Radiator Springs, we were all tired out. Like out of breath.

I looked at my watch and saw the time, 12:04 at midnight.

I spaced out, wondering what this LIGHT thing was that I was holding. I looked down and saw Caitlin. For some reason, I just kept staring.

"Hey, um Lightning, can you put me down?", she said a bit nervous. She had a small shade of pink on her face.

What Caitlin had said, brought me back to reality. "Oh, sure thing..I'm sorry.", I said awkwardly, then I put her down. A hint of pink shaded my cheeks as well.

"Thank you.", She said nonchalantly.

A can clinks on the ground, scaring the living crap out of the both of us.

"Geez, Mater, give me a heart attack.", I said sarcastically.

He just giggled as a response.

A few minutes later, Caitlin walks back to her cozy cone for the night.

"Bye Caitlin, see'ya tomorrow!", Me and Mater say to Caitlin as she was about to go in her cone.

"Bye! See you tomorrow!" She replies and closed the door.

"Lovebirds.", Mater says to me.

"No we're not, we're best friends.", I say. I don't even know why were talking about this.

"You two like eachother, bud.", he said.

I sighed,"Mater, even if I did, I would want to get to know her first.", I replied. I felt relief fly off my chest.

"I guess that's true.", Mater replied.

Oh Mater. "Welp, I'm gonna get some rest. I need some sleep. Bye, see you tomorrow!", I said.

"Bye, see ya tomorrow!", Mater replied back to me.

I went into my cone, laid in my bed, and went to sleep.
