~~~ Aboard the ship
Before they docked the captain had ensured the crew knew they weren't to talk about what they'd found. That was for the world government to release as they found out information. When the military had considered locking the ship down she'd gone to bat for them. It took most of the trip to the research station to convince them to at least give them station leave.
Eventually they'd decided to allow them off the ship and to visit their families. Part of the reason was to get rid of as much of the crew, so they could move what had been found off the ship. In many cases the majority of the crew didn't know the extent of what they'd found. They knew and understood they'd found a station but didn't realize how much had been packed onto the ship.
Everything mechanical or electronic was removed to the research station. With the skeletons and organic matter which included a variety of edible items had been moved to the station. They were then quietly taken down to several famed universities. Even as the engineers were doing cartwheels over all the new tech archeologists, forensic scientists and others were doing the same.
One thing the captain knew, was trying to order the were's and other supernatural not to talk to their pride or pack leaders was impossible. Virtually everything would end up being brought to their attention. She also knew that the leaders wouldn't pass the information unless it was critical. Even then it would only be to elders or the supernatural council. By the time any of the supernatural were down for two days their leaders and quite possibly the supernatural council would know. It was simply the way of life for most supernatural.
Even though getting the alien tech off board, the ship was going to be going a thorough evaluation. Even though they had a massive number of spares they still had some systems which had issues. They were going to be evaluated and improved or repaired. While this was going to be happening the fusion engines brought back were going to be evaluated. If they could figure out how they were made so small, test engines would be installed in a test ship. Chances were good her ship would be tasked to go with a team of scientists for further examination.
She'd prefer to go in a different direction but finding the station was more important than going to a different system. The amount of information they could get from the station was going to be incredible. She was really hoping they'd be able to crack the language. Mathematics wasn't a huge problem, but the actual spoken language was far harder. They'd been working on it but most of it was guesses. As one person had previously mentioned it looked like there might be several languages mixed together. Why so she wasn't sure, and neither were those working on it the way back.
If they couldn't figure out the language it could cause problems. If the military wanted to use the station they might have to completely gut it of all computer equipment and rewire it. That was something she was going to leave to those above her. They'd need to convert or manufacture a repair ship to go and keep working on the station. Her ship just wasn't really designed for it. Even with the massive cargo capacity there was only a certain amount of extra berthing space. If they sent to many people they'd have to consider hot swapping the bunks. Another way of putting it was two crew members the same bunk. It was called hot swapping since many times as one crew was getting ready to bed the other would be rolling out of it.
That would go over badly with the supernatural and it couldn't be forced. About the only way she could see that working would be if the supernatural knew each other and would accept it. The four were-cats were an example. They might be willing since they knew each other very well. They cold easily petition the military board of supernatural about being forced to do it. The board would almost have to bow down to them. That would cause problems with the crew. It was especially true when it came to the liaison rooms. If people were bunked in there she wasn't sure what would be done for intimacy.
