Chapter One

Jerry -

I blew out nervously as Erin turned to me, widening her eyes. 'Is my eyeliner even?'

I pretended to examine her eyes for a while, only staring at the beauty of them. She pawed at my chest jokily.

'Hey, take your time! It isn't is it?'

I shook my head hurriedly. 'No, you look perfect. I mean, fine, it looks normal.'

She smiled, 'if you say so Jerry.' I returned the smile but she turned away before she could see it.

Erin was completely beautiful. She had cute little blonde curls framing her face and blue eyes that were always shining. She had freckles too, she hated them but I couldn't imagine her without them. They created her. Erin was short, and not just short, shorter than me and that was saying something. Not ideal for a fourteen going fifteen year old guy as most girls are taller than boys round about that age, and even guys were growing by then, but Erin was the perfect size for me... She was perfect.

But I was just her friend. The amount of times I'd been about to tell her how I felt were immeasurable. I'd just chicken out, hating myself each time.

We were in our drama class, the last lesson of the day, and we only had ten minutes left when a couple of Year Elevens came in to talk to us about taking us for some lessons up to Christmas.

'Hey, everyone!' Heads turned to two Year Elevens who'd just been chatting to our drama teacher, Mrs. Long, after arriving into the classroom. One was a tall, confident looking black haired guy who was holding a clipboard, and the other was an equally tall, pretty brunette girl with her hair tied up in a tight pony tail. The guy smiled looking confident and friendly as the volume of the room reduced.

'I'm Tom Cole, and this is Paige Williams,' he announced. Paige waved shyly. 'We are going to take you for a couple of drama lessons this term as you now know, but before we start, I'd just like to let everyone know that, seeing as all of you are doing the drama GCSE, we're also going to have a drama club separate from the lower years after school twice a week if you are interested. We're thinking about doing a play to perform at the end of this term, something different every week or even focus on media until the end of term, it all depends on what those who attend decide... If you'd like to sign up,' Tom lifted up the clipboard in his hand, 'there's a list here. Please put your name and form down if you wanna come.'

There were slight murmurs after that. 'Any questions?' Paige asked.

'God, finally. I thought she was dumb or something...' Erin whispered to me with a quiet giggle. I laughed even though it wasn't particularly funny. There was silence.

'Good. The bell is about to go so if you want to come to the club, just put your name down before you leave. We're going to be meeting tomorrow at lunch so please try and attend that meeting as that's when we are planning on deciding the themes for this term and dates that best suite everyone.' Just as she finished the bell rang marking the end of the day. Everyone was on their feet in seconds.

'Think about it, it'll be good for GCSE practise!' Tom called over our voices. He looked at me for a moment and smiled, I smiled back. He seemed to freeze. Slightly freaked out, I turned around and began to head towards my bag.

'Hey,' Erin grabbed hold of my arm, 'you're doing it, right?'

I raised my eyebrows. 'Um, I, yes, of course I am!' I couldn't say no. A chance to be with Erin twice a week after school and possibly some lunch times, just us...And a load of other drama people, but...

'Good!' she grinned, 'this is going to be incredible! Quick, lets sign up! You walking home with me today?'

'Okay, and yes.'

'Great! I need the toilet though; you don't mind waiting again do you?'

I shook my head. 'Nope.'

'Oh, you're such an angel Jerry!' she smiled as she hugged me. I smiled. This drama thing was worth it.

Erin steered me towards Tom and the line of people signing up. Tom was looking at me again. Or maybe he was looking at Erin.
