Chapter Two
Tom +-
'Hey!' I looked up to see a short blonde girl grinning widely at me.
'Hi,' I smiled back.
'Can we sign up?' She asked, gesturing to a guy behind her. It was the tanned brown-haired kid with the dimples that I'd seen earlier.
'What are your names then?' I asked as I handed her the clipboard, trying to keep my eyes on her.
'I'm Erin Harwood and this is Jerry,' she smiled as she scribbled her name down with the pen on the table beside me.
'Jerry West,' Jerry said, looking at me briefly before taking the clipboard from her and writing his own name and form down. I caught a glimpse of deep green eyes as he did so.
'So, what time is it tomorrow?' Erin wanted to know, bringing my attention back to her.
'Um, lunch... I think Paige said...'
Erin laughed, 'yes! Or course... I could barely hear though. Her voice is so quiet after all.' I smiled, glancing at Jerry. He was looking at Erin. I wanted him to look at me. I wanted to see his green eyes, but most of all; I wanted him to smile so I could see his cute lil' dimples again. 'So... After lunch tomorrow what days are we doing?'
I laughed a bit, 'Paige said that too... We decide that tomorrow.'
'Oh!' Erin giggled, 'sorry, I don't listen very well, do I? I'll leave now, there's probably other people waiting...'
I looked behind them and nodded. She winked and waved, as she turned away, dragging Jerry behind her; he looked at me and shrugged, finally sending me a dimpled smile that left me near speechless. Mmm...
'Hmm... That went well.' Paige said to me when the last person had signed up. .
I grinned, eyeing the clipboard, 'yup. We've got like, nineteen, that's a good number if we can control them.'
She nodded, 'it seemed like a good group of people, it should be okay.'
'Yeah,' I said, my eyes skimming over a certain name in particular. I didn't even know why I suddenly had this obsession. I'd just met him, Jerry West, but that once he'd smiled at me, exposing the most beautiful dimples I'd ever seen and including a set of pearfectly white teeth, made even more obvious with his tan...I was gone. He was amazingly gorgeous. The fact that he was strangely short for a Year Ten made him even cuter. He had short brown hair that stuck out, in cute little tufts my fingers just wanted to dive through.
'Are you coming down to the skate park with us?' Paige wanted to know, snapping me out of my little daydream. By us she meant our group of friends.
'Yeah, sure,' I answered with a nod packing up.
Twenty minutes later we had met up with everyone and were on the way.
'Tom?' I looked up. 'You're lagging behind,' Jenny said as she paused until I caught up with her. 'Something wrong?'
'Eh,' I shrugged. 'Nothing really wrong...'
Jen grinned, 'you can tell me TomTom. C'mon. I've got all day.'
I laughed, 'Seriously, there's nothing wrong.'
'Okay, so what are you thinking about?'
'Hmm, not so much a what,' I hinted.
'Oh! Is it a girl?'
I sighed, I didn't want to say anything, but if there was one person I could trust, it was Jen. 'No, it's a guy, Jen.'
'Oh... Like... Like?'
I nodded.
'I see...' Jen paused, twisting her lips.
'Yup.'
I'd only ever really liked one other guy before, and that hadn't exactly gone well. It was two years ago. He was a gorgeous, friendly, sporty guy, with blonde hair
and bright blue eyes. Only Jen and Paige had known I was bisexual at that time, and only Jen knew that I liked him, Scott Crowe.
Scott and I had become really good friends, he was staying in a self-catering cottage near my house; it was summer and he was on holiday from America. Through the whole holiday we were together. He wanted to get away from his parents and younger sister and I was just a local showing him around at first. I introduced him to my friends about two weeks after meeting him. Pretty soon Scott couldn't stop talking about Paige though. It was none stop. By then I'd started having feelings for him and was getting pretty jealous and upset. I hadn't thought he was gay or bi, but I thought I could change that... When he found out that I liked him as much as I did... He would like me back... But Scott was falling for Paige.
I started seeing him without everyone else so he wouldn't see Paige so much, but then he started seeing her without me. The worst part was when Scott disappeared on his last full day in England. It turned out that he had been with Paige.
That night I had cried myself to sleep. I wasn't exactly angry with Paige, she didn't know I was in love with him and it wasn't her fault he was in love with her; I was angry with myself because I was too scared to tell him how I felt, so I decided I would tell him, before he left. And I did.
I went to Scott's little cottage with just an hour to spare. It took me ages before I could say anything relevant. I just kept asking about him and Paige, everything he said hurting me, cutting me deeper. When his mum called him, saying they were leaving in twenty minutes, I started to panic so I leaned forward and kissed him.
For a moment he was stunned, but in seconds I found myself on the ground in pain. I told him I loved him again and again, tears easing down my face, but he called me a "pointless waste of time and life" and a "queer" before he left.
And that was my first heartbreak. I'd never fallen for another guy again. Until Jerry. And it didn't look like Jerry swung that way either...
'Who is he?' Jen interrupted my thoughts.
'Jerry West.'
'From?'
'From school.'
'Oh? You met him in school? Never heard of anyone called Jerry West...'
'He's a Year Ten. He signed up for the Drama thing me and Paige are doing.'
'Oh!' Jen paused, 'hey, that's pretty cool.'
'What?'
'Tom and Jerry!'
I laughed, having not realised that. 'Weird...'
Jen joined in with the laughter. 'Well, what do you know, a match made in television! Is he cute?'
I grinned, 'totally.'
'How?'
'Short, gorgeous brown hair, unbelievably tan, amazing dimples-'
'Dimples!?'
'Dimples!'
Jenny grabbed onto my arm, 'you better bag this one Tom!'
I grinned, 'you're telling me.'
