Your POV

I sat beside Petra, watching the sunset. It was the same colour as her hair. She had been my best friend for the past year, never once leaving my side.

We laughed and joked as we watched people rush to return home, and you would have thought we were mortal, if we weren't sitting on a cloud, and if we didn't have wings adorning our backs.

Being an angel wasn't bad; we got to lead the newly dead people through the gates, and occasionly look after humans. That was my favourite part; going down to Earth. Sometimes I even got to go with the Survey Corps on their missions, flying above them as an invicible guardian. I loved watching the titans being slayed, and protecting my friends. If only I could protect Levi...

It was an unspoken rule between me and Petra that we never mentioned the dark haired man, or his suicide. I know she had watched it, because it had been her who had greeted me in tears when I finally reached the gates myself, but even so, we never spoke of him, as much as we wanted too. There was no point, anyway, it wasn't like we could ever see him again. Souls that went to hell never returned, unless they rose to the rank of demon or above, but even then they just wrecked havoc on Earth.

'(y/n),' a voice came from behind me, and I turned to see Xan. He was a Commander of Skies; one of an elite group of angels whose jobs were to destroy demons.

'Yes?' I asked, as he stroked a strand of dark blue hair from his face.

'I'd like you to come with me,' he instructed, before turning away, his ponytail flicking behind him. I apologized to Petra and followed him to where the other Commaders sat. There were five of them in total; Xan, Ed, Janet, Leya and Toki.

'Hello,' I dipped my head, and Ed laughed.

'Please, ignore any formalities!' He chuckled, smiling. Ed had been killed during the fall of Zhiganshina; he was one of the Garrison who had actually killed some titans.

'Ok,' I smiled, before sitting down between Leya and Xan.

'Well then,' Xan spoke, serious as usual, 'let's address the matter at hand.'

The others now also had serious expressions.

'We have decided to make you Head Angel,' Toki said matter-of-factly. Toki had been assassinated before Titans had invaded, and had witnessed the collapse of humanity. He had seen the ocean, and had lived at the base of something called Mount Fuji.

I must have looked like a gaping fish, because the others all burst out laughing.

'I...Is that a joke!?' I cried. They stopped laughing.

'No we are serious,' Ed grinned, 'Your skills outmatch anyone elses, so if you take on the role of Head Angel, or The Guardian, then the others will learn better.'

'O...Ok,' I stammered, surprised and overjoyed.

'You will begin your new role at once,' Toki instructed, still serious. He wore traditional Japanese clothing and had long black hair that flowed past his waist, and dark eyes that knew and had seen too much.

'Dammit, Toki, lighten up a little,' laughed Janet, speaking for the first time. He scowled.

'No,' he said, 'One of us needs to be serious.'

She sighed, and Xan stood up.

'Come,' he instructed, 'I'll get you set up.'

I followed him, and when we were out of sight he produced a new set of clothes for me. If you think that just because we are angels we wear long white dresses, you are wrong. He handed me a short blue dress rimmed with green. I grinned, made him turn around and changed. Then he presented me with a golden headress pointed with turquoise spikes.

'Whoa...' I breathed, placing it over my head. It was beautiful.

'Now you are a true angel,' he whispered, staring into my eyes.

'H...Huh?' I breathed as he took my hand and led me back to the others. They clapped upon seeing me, apart from Toki.

'You look amazing!' Leya smiled, and the others nodded.

'I... Thank you,' I blushed.

'Your first role as Head Angel will be to take care of any new arrivals,' Janet smiled, 'I'll get Marco to take you to the gates.'

I froze ,'M..Marco? I can speak to Marco?'

With that, the boy appeared, once again complete with both sides of his body. He grinned and blushed, scratching his head.

'Hi, Marco!' I smiled, and he waved.

'Did you two know each other?' Asked Leya.

'Yeah, we were both in the 104th trainee corps,' I told her. She winked at me and I laughed, before walking off with Marco.

'So, you're Head Angel,' he grinned, and I blushed.

'Yeah, pretty crazy huh?'

'Yeah...'

We reached the gates and my jaw dropped at the long line of people, most wearing bloodied military uniforms. I scanned the line of people, hoping I wouldn't see anyone I knew. Just as I thought that there was nobody there, Marco whispered something along the lines of 'Oh please no' and ran off. I looked in his direction and gasped, before chasing after him.

'Marco!'

'Jean!'

What... Jean was dead!?

The two boys embraced each other like long lost lovers.

'Marco...' Jean whispered, hugging the freckled boy, 'I didn't see it coming... It just ate me...'

Marco was biting back tears, 'Why didn't someone save you? You're in the Survey Corps, so why didn't Erwin or Levi save you,'

At the mention of Levi me and Jean both froze.

'Y..You don't know?' I whispered. Marcos eyes widened.

'Know what?'

'Levi commited suicide a few days after I died,' I whispered. Marco gasped.

'Oh my god I'm so sorry,' he apologized.

'Its ok,' I shrugged, 'You weren't to know.'

Jean coughed, turning our attention to him.

'This is a pretty big ass line,' he motioned to the line. I felt shivers spread up my spine at the Levi quote, 'So you guys had better get to the front,' he smirked and walked back to his place between two randoms. I sighed and went to the front, and began taking people through the gates.
