Author's Note: This is the final chapter, and I will switch between third person and first person, also switching who's POV it is. 🙂
........
Amy sat at her desk, tossing another piece of paper in her trash. The note toward Teddy wasn't going as she wished. Jake had been gone six months, and Amy was unsure if he was coming back anytime soon.
The Captain walked out into the bullpen from his office. He spoke in his usual way. "Sergeant Jeffords, Santiago, Diaz, Boyle, all Peralta's close friends in fact, my office now."
Amy, as well as Terry, Charles and Rosa all rose from their desks and moved toward the office. Holt greeted them, before having Hitchcock and Scully try to get through the door that the captain was closing.
"What are you two doing?" Terry wondered.
"Captain said Jake's close friends..." Scully said, having Hitchcock finish, "I for one believe I'm Jake's best friend."
Amy, not even looking at the door, sighed. "Get out of here Hitchcock!" She demanded.
The old detective left the door and returned back to his desk.
"You too, Scully." Boyle added, after having noticed that the second old detective hadn't left the door way.
When they had both returned back to their seats, Holt closed the door entirely, just to insure that nobody in the bullpen could hear the conversation about to happen.
The Captain returned to his seat and sat down, creating a tension in the office. After a moment, he began speaking. "As you all know, for the past six months, Detective Peralta has been undercover with the FBI. Well, early this morning, I received a notification about Peralta's position, and how it currently stands." He said in a monotone. "He believes he has gained enough trust with the Mafia that we would be able to close in on them. I have been told that he is attending a wedding later tonight with the Mafia, and that I can see him before and listen in due to a wire. If all goes well, I will give Peralta a code to signal for us to barrade in. Sergeant Jeffords, you will be with me, and your mission is to collect Peralta, but make it seem as if you are after him. Santiago, Diaz and Boyle, you remain at the Precinct, make sure everything goes properly. Make sure nobody burns the Precinct down." He instructed. "Santiago, you are in charge."
Amy smiled with pride at the Captain, before he dismissed them from his office. As she returned to her desk, a smile appeared on her face. Jake might be coming back! Back home! She thought. That was what she had been thinking for six months, but this time, it could possibly come true.
........
Jake's POVSIX MONTHS! I've been undercover for six months! It's crazy how fast the time has gone. But, boy, do I miss everyone back at the Nine-Nine. Charles, my best friend. Gina, I've known since I was a kid. Rosa, since the academy. Terry, who can say no to the Sarge! Holt, Mr. Robot. Amy, oh my god, I think out of all of them, I miss Amy the most. It's a shame I left it so awkward.
I can't wait to be back in the Nine-Nine, I haven't seen my friends in six months!
But worst of all, I haven't watched Die Hard... That was difficult.
........Amy's POV
As soon as the Captain told everyone Jake was coming back to the Nine-Nine, I had to admit. My heart raced and must have skipped one beat.
At first, it didn't seem true, but now Holt and Terry are on their way to the location, I'm in charge, and I'll see Jake tomorrow, hopefully. If the mission is a success. God, I hope it is.
........
Jake walked through the gate into the bullpen, smiling a huge smile. Amy and Terry were looking down on a case, and Charles, having suggested the idea, was trying his utter hardest to not collapse inwards. "Back in the nine-nine!" Jake loudly spoke, the smile not disappearing from his face.
Charles immediately folded and began cheering, making Rosa hint a smile and cause Terry and Amy to look up from the case file. "Jake! Jake! Jake! Jake!" He chanted, pointing at his best friend and alternating which hand was further ahead.
"Played to perfection, Charles." Gina put in, and Boyle agreed.
"God, I missed this place." Jake mentioned. "Let me just soak it in." He said, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath through his nose. "Oh, yeah, stale coffee, fingerprinting ink... whatever Charles is fermenting in his desk."
"Beans." Boyle cut in, giving Jake an answer.
"Beans... its like I never left."
Amy beamed. Seeing Jake made her smile. The wait for Jake was worth it. He was exactly the same.
