ETHAN
LOS ANGELES POLICE STATION"Spencer." I whispered, my eyes not believing what they were seeing.
Spencer was sat in a chair, a blank stare on her face as 2 officers stood next to her. She had dry tear stains on her cheeks. Her cheeks were sunken in, her skin way paler than it used to be. Her eyes didn't shimmer like they used to. They were cold and dark. Deathly, even.
Whatever happened to her, it broke her. It changed her.
She had a police jacket resting on her shoulders, the clothes she had on were obviously not hers.
Spencer's head turned to my direction, her lips parting slightly.
"E-Ethan?" She blinked, her hands propping up on the table."Ethan!" Spencer's face changed completely, her hands pushing her up out of her chair. I quickly forced myself towards her, meeting her halfway.
My arms wrapped around her tightly, my face hiding into the crook of her neck. I couldn't help it, tears escaped their way out of my eyes that were squeezed closed tightly.
"Spence- holy shit you're- you're here... y-you're home." I whimpered, clutching her.
"Y-yeah." She didn't speak much, she just embraced me.
My tears fell quickly. I had never been so relieved in my life. My best friend was home. The love of my life was alive.
I tried to keep my cries silent, but a few whimpers and sounds came out. Spencer however, was crying and she didn't care who heard.
The hug lasted for about two minutes before we both decided to pull away, but we didn't really let go of each other.
My hands cupped her cheeks, my eyes locked on hers.
"Y-you- you're here this is- this is real." I felt a bit panicked, but in a good way.My heart was racing, my mind not knowing what to do.
Her small hands snakes around my wrists, her head nodding.
"Im- I'm so happy I-... I thought you were gone- I thought you were dead." I confessed in a low voice with a sniffle."So did I." Her voice was a bit shaky. I pulled her forehead to my lips, applying a kiss to it and holding it against my lips.
More tears slipped down my cheeks, my eyelids falling over my eyes again as I savored the love of my life in my arms again.
"Spencer, sweetie. They need to talk to Ethan alone, okay? We'll bring him out in a few minutes." Mrs.Jade spoke up.
I didn't want to let her go, though. I was afraid that if I did, she'd just vanish.
"Okay." She let go of me, her face ghosting away from my hands and lips as her parents lead her out of the room.I was left in here with the two officers who motioned me to take a seat. I wiped my tears away and sat down, waiting for an explanation.
"She came in with chains on her neck and wrists. She was chained by her neck and wrists in a basement in only her undergarments. From what the investigators found and what she had told us, she had been there the entire time. Her kidnapper went out for a store run and she had gotten out. She eventually broke the chains off the wall and floor from tugging at them hard enough, it was an old and cheap metal, so it wasn't shocking. She found her way here. She has no clue what he looks like or where she came from. She told us that he always wore a mask." One of the officers informed me.
The information made me feel sick. How could someone want to hurt someone as precious as Spencer.
"Her body shows physical trauma. He has been beating her for a year, starving her out sometimes and even neglecting her for weeks. He hurt her, cut her, it's an awful sight. Your name was the first thing that came out of her mouth. She asked us where you were."
