ETHAN
THE JADE RESIDENCE
Screaming. That's all I heard. Loud, high-pitched, terror-full screaming. Almost like someone was getting murdered.
I jolted wide awake, feeling frightened.
I looked down to my right seeing Spencer shouting, her eyes squeezed shut and her hands swinging at something that wasn't there.
"Spencer, hey! Hey! It's okay! Wake up!" My hands gripped her wrists tightly. She was still screaming, her hands fighting against mine.
"No! No!" She wailed.
"Spencer! It's ethan! Wake up!" My tense hands shook her a bit, causing her eyes to shoot open.
Tears poured out down her face, nothing but fear written all over it.
"E-ethan!" She instantly ripped her arms out of my grasp and wrapped them around my neck.
"Hey, hey... it's okay... I'm here." My arms wrapped around her tightly.
She cried into my shoulder, gasping for air.
"What happened Spence?" I gripped her tightly, feeling her body tremble.
"H-he was- he was there. I- I was th-there again." She sobbed, her voice shaking violently.
"I- I was trapped... I couldn't- I- he was-" she couldn't finish her sentence.
"Okay okay, you don't have to go on... sh, Spencer, I'm here." I whispered sweetly, cradling her in my arms to try and calm her.
She was almost rattling with how much her body was tremoring.
Her breathing was irregular and it almost felt like she was not going to let go of me, which I didn't mind, of course.
"Just breathe, Spencer. It was just a dream. You are home and you are safe." I rocked her back and forth gently, and it seemed to be working.
Then I heard the door open. Both of my eyes directed towards the door, seeing her parents and her brother with pure terror all over their faces.
"She's okay, she just had a bad dream." I assured them, letting them know she is safe with me.
"I-I'm okay." Her arms were still holding onto me desperately.
"Honey are you sure? Do you need us to stay?" Her mom looked horrified.
"I'm okay... Ethan's here." She exhaled deeply, calming herself down.
'Ethan's here.'
My heart fluttered with this statement. I made her feel safe. That's all I ever wanted to do.
"Okay sweetheart... if you need anything please let us know." Mr.Jade stated before motioning the rest of the family to let spencer have her space.
"I-I hate this." She grumbled.
"I know, Spence. I'm sorry you have to go through this." I felt deeply sorry for her. She didn't deserve this.
I wanted to get ahold of whoever did this. He broke her. Completely and utterly broke everything spencer was.
"I'm just glad you're here to help me." As she said this, more tears rolled down her cheeks.
"I'm always gonna be here to help you." I caressed her hair, I knew she loved that. She always loved when I played with her hair.

"Your hair is getting so long." I gasped as Spencer's back was faced towards me. I never really noticed how long it was since she always wore it up recently, due to it being hot.
