ETHAN
THE JADE RESIDENCE

"I brought you your favorite, in-n-out." I said as I walked through Spender's bedroom door with both arms holding food for us.

"You are the greatest friend in the entire world." Spencer sat up on her bed, looking incredibly beautiful.

"I know, right." I cracked a smile, sitting on her bed and displaying the bags of food in front of her.

"That smells so good." She sniffed the air, a satisfied expression playing on her face.

My hands dug in the bag, bringing her food out first and handing it to her.
"Here."

"It smells so good." She squeaked excitedly, grabbing the wrapped burger.

"Go ahead, sweetheart, you don't have to wait for me." I said as I noticed she was hesitant to eat before I even held food in my hands.

She nodded and unwrapped as I prepared my food in front of me. She took a bite, then immediately groaned in satisfaction.

"It's so good." Her voice sounded muffled from the burger in her mouth.

I chuckled, then taking a bite of mine. I was happy to see her smile again.

"The last time I had in-n-out was the day we went out on my motorcycle." I slightly smiled at the memory of that day.

PAST

"Ethan slow down! In-n-out isn't going anywhere!" Her cheerful laugh rang through my ears.

I grinned, looking back at her for a slight second. God, she was beautiful.

"Did you say speed up?" I questioned, accelerating the bike.

"No!" She shrieked, gripping around my waist, her head laying in between my shoulder blades.

She hugged me tightly, sending a warm feeling throughout my entire being. I loved when she held onto me. I loved every time she touched me.

I loved her.

"It's okay, spence, I won't kill us. I wouldn't do anything that put you in harms way." I slowed down, seeing in-n-out coming up.

I turned into the restaurant lot, going through the drive through and ordering our meals.

"Here's my part." Spencer handed me her money.
"No, I've got it." I shook my head, swatting her money away playfully.

"Ethan, you always pay for me-"
"And what makes you think that's gonna change? I've got enough money for the both of us." I smiled, paying for our food.

Once they gave it to us, I pulled into a parking spot and stopped the bike.

"Cheers." She smiled a wide, toothy grin at me.

God, she was so breath taking. Everything about her was so beautiful. Her smile made me weak at the knees, almost as if I was falling for her.

But I was. I fell for her a long time ago.

"Cheers."

PRESENT

"That day was so fun." I smiled as I remembered it.

"It was... I would like to do that again one day." She said, tucking strands of hair behind her ear.

"And we will... but for now, we work slowly on getting you out and about."

"I don't know if I ever want to go back outside... he's still out there." Spencer mumbled, her head tilted down staring at her food.

"I know it must be scary, but I promise you, nothing bad will happen to you ever again. I won't let it." I placed myself next to her on the bed, assuring her that I was never going to let her get hurt again.

I would do everything in my power to keep her safe.

I love her so much.

I was taken away from my thoughts when I felt her cold hand place upon mine that was laying on her bed.

"I know it must've been scary for you too." She said softly.
"It was... I was worried I'd never see you again... but it was life changing for you and I don't ever want to focus on how scared I was." It was selfish to me to think that way.

Sure, I was terrified for her.. but it happened to her. I couldn't focus on myself more than her.

"It's okay, Eth. It was hard on everyone." Her hand gripped mine tighter.

"Not as hard as it was on you. God- I wish I could find whoever did this shit to you and- and hurt him... torture him like he tortured you." I growled, closing my eyes tightly.

"I wouldn't do that... as much as I hate him I-" she cut herself off, her brows furrowing and her eyes staring downwards.

She took a small breath and exhaled, closing her eyes .
"I hated what he did to me more. I wouldn't put the worlds worst serial killer through that." She shook her head slightly.

"I get it."

"Let's not talk about this. Let's enjoy our food and watch movies or something." She perked back up, shaking off her thoughts.

We had movie nights a lot when we were younger.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" I smiled, eating a couple of fries.

"I think so." She giggled.

ONE HOUR LATER

"See I never understood why none of us as kids thought it was weird that she left her boyfriend for a bee." I squinted my eyes, shaking my head, still looking at the tv.

Once I got no reply, I looked down to my right, seeing Spencer sleeping peacefully.

It was a wonderful sight. A wonderful sight to see her back in my presence.

I tend to catch myself thinking that a lot, but it is truly a relief that she is here.

I wanted to hold her forever and never let her go.

She belonged here with me. With her family. With her friends.

She deserves to be happy and how she used to be. Sunshine.

Sweetness and light.

She deserved to live a happy life with me. That's all I wanted.

For her and I to be happy.
