"Oh! I felt her kick!" Syd said, laying her big ass head against my stomach. I had been avoiding Syd since I found out that Tevin may or may not have a baby coming. I just felt bad that I was smiling all in my best friend's face, knowing what I know, which is why I was avoiding her. But of course, my forgetful ass forgot that I invited her over to keep me company while Ilene worked on the baby's nursery, which is why she was sitting here rubbing on my stomach.
"Yeah, she tends to do that whenever someone touches my stomach." I sighed.
"Awww...I can't wait until me and Tevin have a baby. I mean...I can wait because I want a ring first, but I do want to have a baby with him. A son first, of course and then a baby girl." She said. I didn't even respond, let alone look at her, as she continued caressing my stomach. I just felt so fucking fake right now and it made me sick to my stomach.
"I wonder if Ilene needs our help." I said, shifting the conversation.
"I doubt it. She would literally kill me if I allowed you to go upstairs, trying to see what she's doing." Syd laughed. "Are you hungry though? I can make you some food or something."
"No I'm okay for right now, but um...you can help me wash all these clothes so I can fix up her closet. I was up half the night washing all her clothes and hanging them up, plus matching up her shoes and hair bows." I huffed, pulling myself up off of the couch. Apart of me wanted to tell her, only because she had a right to know, but it wasn't my place to tell her about her man. He needed to man up and do what he gotta do, before she finds out on her own. "She's not even here yey and she already has more clothes than me!"
"She's gonna be a little diva, like her momma. Which by the way...have you and Dean decided on a name?" She asked.
"Yep. We came to a final decision last night, but we're not telling anyone until the she's born."
"Ugh whyyy? What if I wanted to get her some customized baby items?"
"You can still get them, Syd." I laughed. "You'll just have to customize and order it after she's born."
"I hate you."
"I know it." We shared a laugh as we started working on the baby's laundry. Though I'd rather be working on my daughter's nursery, I already promised Ilene that she could decorate it; with the exception of her incorporating the things I wanted to her room.
"Can I at least have a hint on my God daughter's name?" She asked.
"No."
"Initials?"
"No." I said.
"Ughhh, you're killing me!" She groaned.
"Okay, okay...I'm naming her Sydney." I lied.
