Adjusting to The Lights

September9th 2017
~Kennedy's POV.

I wake up to something cold pressed against my face.My vision is blurred and I have a massive headache.I try to get up but my head hurts to much.I press my hand to where it hurts and feel something gooey in my hair.I look at my fingers with the little light that's in this room.

Blood?Why is there blood in my hair?I feel my hair and head more and notice something.Stitches?Why do I have stitches in my head?I try to get up but this time someone rushes over to me.

"Hey,no,no,don't get up just yet."They say to me in a soft voice.I can't see who it is at first because I'm on my stomach.I roll over to see who's standing above me.

"Well good morning sunshine." another voice calls from the end of the room.I look to the right of me and the person standing above me is now sitting next to me.It takes me a minute for my eyes to adjust and I realize it's August.He sits next to me,trying to comfort me,but I see terror in his eyes.

"What's going on here?"I stutter out.

"We're all f*cked is what's going on here
gumdrop"The guy from across the room says

"Would you stop with the nicknames Alex?"August snaps at him.

I hear someone else in the room sobbing.I carefully sit up with the help from August and look behind me.A girl is hunched up against the wall,sobbing.I slowly stand up and make my way towards her.

"Hey Kenny you might not want to go over there."August says to me

"I'm just trying to help her August."I say back.

As I walk closer to her I notice it's Amber who is sobbing.I see through the shadows a big lump.I sit next to her and look over her shoulders.Its her other brother max laying on the floor.He's not moving,I see that he lays in a puddle of blood.Amber is hugging Max's life less body.She has blood all over her hands and face.

I lean in to hug her to try and comfort her.She jumps up and August and Alex jump up to,trying to run over to help me.Amber throws her self on me.She doesn't try to hurt me,she just lays there letting me hold her.She sits on my lap and continues to cry.

After about an hour of sobbing Amber fell asleep on me.I let her stay there because I didn't want to upset her again.I fall asleep too I'm an uncomfortable position with my neck painful against the wall,it doesn't bug me though because the pain in my head in much worse.

When I wake up I'm not against the wall anymore,I'm in the middle of the room with a jacket under my head for a pillow.I look around and Alex and August are asleep too.I look at whose jacket I'm using and it reads Alex Peterson.I realize that Alex must have noticed how uncomfortable I looked and moved me to the middle of the room.

September 5th 2017(8:20am,right before school starts)
~Nolan's POV.

I wait outside the school for Anna,wanting to walk her to class.The bell rings but I decide to wait 5 minuets for her to show up,I wait 5 and look at my phone *8:30* I wait 5 more minuets and she calls me.

"Hey Nolan!,Me and Hunter just left his house."She says on the phone

Hunter is Anna's cocky boyfriend. Surprisingly he's a senior even though he was supposed to graduate 2 years ago.

"Yeah okay Anna I'll wait."I say back to her

"Actually could you go in to class and when the teacher calls my name,say here for me?"

"Yeah sure Anna,but you owe me"

"Okay,then we'll swing buy and grab you a cherry lemonade and the store."

Anna knows how much I love cherry lemonade,my grandma used to always have it when me and Kenny would come up to her house.
I hang up the phone and run to class,I sneak in before the teacher calls attendance.I say here when my name is called and when Anna's name is called.*11:45* The bell rings to go to lunch and I find Anna in the hall way.

"Here ya go Nolan."And hands me my drink.

"Thanks Anna,wanna sit with me and Kenny at lunch?"

"Uh no thanks I'm gonna go find hunter"

She walks off and I go into the lunchroom,looking for Kenny and Liam and them.As I look around I see few seniors.I walk over to Jill and Cassidy sitting at a table.

"Hey little man,where's Kenny?"Cassidy says with a cocky smile

"I was gonna ask you that Cassidy,I haven't seen her."

"Oh,she's probably taking her time to get down here then"Jill says

"Yeah but what about Adriana,Liam,or August?August would never miss lunch"I say sitting down with them.

We stand get up to go look around for them,Jill goes up stairs,Cassidy stays downstairs,and I look around out side.

I walk around the school,trying not to be seen.I try calling Kenny a couple times,then Liam.No one answers.I walk through the parking lot to see if Liam's car is still there,yep.I walk around the courtyard and I look at the ground and I see a puddle of blood.I freak out,calling Cassidy then Jill.

The blood is still wet,which means that ever happened,happened very recently.We walk back inside,Jill trying to calm me down,but she's freaking out too.We carrying though the rest of the day and Cassidy says she notices that on attendance it says excused for a lot of people,including Kenny,Liam,Adrian,and August.

When the final bell rings to go home,I wait at Liam's car for Liam and Kenny but they don't show up.I don't want to go home without Kenny.Mom and Dad probably won't be home anyways,but it's 4:00pm and I don't know what I should do.I get in Liam's car and just sit there,waiting because I know they will show up right?
