could this be love?

He turns on the heat for me because I am still freezing. Charlie goes on the phone with my mom.

"She has a gash on her leg." He says but I protest.

"Mer. Your mother needs to know." He hangs up and I'm dosing off again. 

"Meryl, stay awake you can go to sleep when you get home." We drive home with me shivering and Charlie comes to my side of the door and carries me inside. Tanith is the first one to come up. She has a first aid kit and she immediately cleans and bandages the cut for me.

"Meryl, are you still cold?" I shake my head even though I am. I don't like to feel weak and that's how I feel. That's when Tanith whispers something into Charlie's ear and he nods.

"I'll see you tomorrow." Tanith hugs me and gives Charlie a kiss.

"Now you can go to sleep." Charlie follows me to my room. I get comfortable and grab Charlie's hand.

"Thanks Charlie." I smile at him. "You literally saved my life back there."

"Well meryl, as payment you are NEVER allowed to leave me like that again! You have no idea what you put me through Meryl Elizabeth Davis!" Charlie says in the serious tone that he never uses.

"I know I'm sorry. I won't I promise." I tell him and look into his eyes for the first time tonight and I see his hurt.

"Tomorrow we will talk about Tanith's cousin but Mer, you need to sleep now. No offense, but you look awful. And pale." Charlie says putting 2 extra blankets on me. " If you need anything I'm right across the hall. " Charlie hugs me and I fall asleep very quickly. . .

(Charlie pov)

I can sleep. I know now that Meryl is okay but I still cannot get it out of my head that she isn't. I walk across the hall to check on her multiple times. She looks so peaceful, finally regained of her color. She's no longer that pale blue she was when I first found her in the freezing water. I go down to talk to Cheryl. "She's sound a sleep." I say.

"Charlie, if you hadn't have been there we would have lost her." Cheryl says wrapping me in an embrace. " you know she loves you. Not in the way you think, in the way that she would go away because she was told she was ruining your relationship. She would go to the ends of the earth to make you happy." Cheryl says. When she says meryl loved me I know what Tanith we talking about earlier about me figuring out my feelings. She want to know if I love meryl. I guess that what I need to figure out next. That's when I hear soft footsteps.

"Hey, Meryl." Cheryl says and I turn around. She runs to her mom and hugs her.

"Mer, you should be asleep." I say to her. She smiles that beautiful smile. 

"I just can't seem to get warm." She says to me.

"I can fix that." I say back. Together we walk up stairs and I lay beside her like I used to when we were kids. We both falls asleep with 3 blankets on us. I would do anything for her.
