Case urged me to get on the bike, and when I didn't he taunted me. When he threatened to abandon me I grabbed the helmet and hopped on the back of the motorcycle.

The air rushed passed us and to be fully honest, it was a rush. Feeling the wind thrashing against you, the constant feeling of rebellion, and an overall sense of freedom was so eye-opening. I felt like I could let everything go for the slightest bit of time.

"Someone's getting used to the bike," Case said when we reached a stop.

"How can you tell?" I asked him.

"Your grip loosened on me. You hands were really tense before. Hold on," He said, revving the motorcycle and then flying down the street. We went on a little joyride through town before stopping at a little frozen yogurt shop.

   "What are we doing here?"

"I don'k know. I just figured we could talk here instead, you know, since the park is..occupied." Case smiled and helped me off the bike. I felt so alive, just being around him was liberating, "Here, let me." He said, opening the door for me.

"Thanks," I said shyly, "You know, I was totally wrong about you. Sorry I judged you before."

He smiled, and said "I'm used to it. Sorry I come off as such an ass. I mean, usually I am, but there's just something about you that's different than most girls."

I blushed a little and then we got our yogurt. Case offered to pay, but I was too stubborn to let him, he put up a fight about it, but I ended up paying for mine, he paid for his.

We sat, laughing, talking, eating, and just enjoying the day. When we had enough of the yogurt shop Case decided to drive me home. I gave him directions and we sped off to my house.

"That's such a rush!" I half-yelled when we got off the bike.

"Hah, yeah." He said, and it was the first time I'd ever seen him even a bit shy, "Hey, before you go, can I have your number?"

"Oh, uhm sure." I smiled, grabbed a Sharpie and wrote it on his hand. I waved goodbye and walked up the driveway. When I got in the house my brother stood in the door way with his arms crossed over his chest, "Hey Alex," I said.

"Charlie has a motorcycle now?" My brother asked, sarcastically, "Who the hell was that Lyric?"

"Just a friend, why does it matter who I hang out with? I went to the park, he was there, we talked and that's it. Damn, you're just like mom, always on my case about something." I blurted. What I said couldn't be taken back, and I instantly regrettted it,

"Whatever. Sorry I care." He huffed and stomped off to his room, slamming the door behind him. Shit Lyric, you really fucked up this time, I thought.

"Hello Lyric, how was the park?" My grandma asked, upon seeing me for the first time today.

"It was fine. Alex got all up in my grill a minute ago though and I think I really ticked him off." I said, "Grandma, what should I do."

"Talk to him, he's your brother, he'll understand if you explain it to him." She suggested.

I took her advice and slowly made my way up the stairs. I knocked on his door but he didn't answer, so I just opened it, "Alex we need to talk," I said.

He looked up from his phone and asked, sarcastically, "about what, the fact that lately you've been a total bitch or rainbows and unicorns?"

"Alex, I'm sorry. Mom and dad have just been really bugging me lately and I finally got out of this hell-hole only to come back to more interrogating. I didn't mean to make you angry, I was being irrational, and I don't know. This was the first time I had actual fun in a long time, and as soon as I get through the door someone's there to ask questions. It feels like no one wants me to be happy." I blurted, letting out everything I've wanted to say for a while.

"I didn't know. I was just worried. Motorcycles are dangerous and I don't want you to get hurt. If you want we can go out and do something tonight, grandma can watch Jaime and you and I can go rollerskating or something. We haven't hung out in a while, and apparently you need some time out before the parents from hell come back. Soudn good?" He suggested.

I smiled, "Sounds great." I agreed.

The anger flew from his face and a smile emerged, "Good. Now grandma said something about your gallery growing. I expected it, but I was also expecting to see these new paintings sometime soon."

I showed him the way, and moved the bookcase, with a little help from Alex, and then unlocked the hidden door. When I showed him inside he let out a little gasp. I took it as a sign of approval, and he examined each of them. Each one had their own story, but there was no story harder to explain than the one that followed the painting of Case's eyes, which I hoped my brother wouldn't question.

"Wow, these are amazing. How are you so good at this. Like that one of some dudes eyes, I literally felt like someone was staring at me. And that ballerina painting, it's so simple but it really catches your eye. You need to show this off more." He said, still looking over each painting. My brother's ability to really appreciate art was one of the many things I loved about him.

"Yeah, try telling that to mom and dad." I muttered, closing the gallery door behind me, "can you get the bookcase?"

"Yeah, no problem," He said, shoving it back in place effortlessly, "So, rollerskating then?"

I grabbed a five dollar bill out of my purse and did a quick makeup check. Once I was ready to go I yelled to Alex,  "Let's go!"
