Shade's POV

"Mom, Dad, I'll be fine! I promise." It didn't really matter what I said to them, I knew their hearts were in the right place but I knew that I could make my own decisions.

"Shade, we left Zootopia for a reason, and now you want to go back?"

"Your mother's right, Shade, after what happened there are you really sure that you want to go back?"

I sighed, they had a point. I hadn't been to that city ever since the whole incident at the scouts. I valued 2 things, honour and trust, and on that day, those prey animals took both of those things and smashed them into pieces. But this was going to be different, I was going to have a fresh start.

"My mind is made up. I want to make amends with my past and really make a go of this, now I've gotta go, the train will be here in like 10 minutes."

I hugged them both and we said our goodbyes. I wouldn't be gone forever, but they still had the worry and belief that it was.

With luggage in hand, I took a deep breath and stepped outside and walked to the train station.

After several minutes of waiting, the train pulled up, and eagerly, I stepped on. I was really surprised as to the amount of prey animals that were there, they certainly outnumbered they predators, like myself. A few mice there, guinea pigs too. There were other wolves on the train, but I was the only one with jet black fur. So I was special in that regard.

********2 hours passed********

As I looked out the window, I saw the grand city of Zootopia emerge from the Mountain range.

"Wow... It's even more beautiful than I remember..." I said in complete amazement, the memories came flooding back; my friends, my family... the fire... the betrayal... I shook my head and laughed. "Come on Shade, you're 18 years old now, you need to stop focusing on childish stuff."

After a while, I stopped focusing on my own thoughts and instead just listened to the random chatter of the other animals... some of it was useful information on the city, but... the other parts was just pointless small talk.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived in Zootopia, please collect your luggage and exit through the doors once the train has come to a full stop." The conductor announced through the intercom.

My excitement grew. This was it. I was back. I was ready to make a go of this.
Eventually, the train came to a stop and the doors opened. I held my breath and took my first steps in Zootopia in nearly 13 years.

I rented a room from an apartment building, I still had no idea wether it was a good one, but... since it was a very cheap one, I assumed not.

I walked out of the train station. The vibrant colours of the city was certainly something to admire. It had changed a lot in 13 years, that was to be expected, I suppose.

Several police officers were doing patrols around the city. Well, at least they are following an honourable career. Heh, police work... that would be a good job for me, but that's not why I came back. I came back to make a name for myself. Maybe that involved police work? I laughed, that is something best thought about in the future.

As I walked through the streets, I happened to walk past the old scouts building. I couldn't help but cringe at the thought of what happened. I had a friend there...  a fox, he was. His name was... something... Wilde, yeah. Can't remember his first name, wish I did, I really liked the guy. Before I left I told him something, that he hopefully still remembers. "Never let them see that they get to you..."  Haha... Well, I'm a bit younger that him so maybe he just took it as the ramblings of a child... I wonder what he's doing now... oh who cares? He's probably not even in Zootopia anymore.
