3rd POV

"Stupid butterfly!"

"Get out of my way, you insect!"

A muffled set of words began to peal in [Name]'s head—a pile of detestable words clouding her racing thoughts, trickles of sweat dampening her cheeks. Her melancholy mood hung over her like a dark cloud.

"Hey, did you hear that she placed last on the Quirk test?"

"Again?"

"Seriously...? Only someone Quirkless could fail that..."

"... I heard she's the teacher's favourite."

"Huh? That brat?"

"No wonder she hardly ever gets into trouble. Snotty snitch."

"Look at her wings, they're so tiny!"

"Pull her wings! Maybe she'll shut up," a kid barked, chanting maliciously.

"I wonder what will happen if we do this?" A snotty twelve-year old tugged harshly onto a pair of feeble wings, eliciting a pained grunt from a petite girl's lips. "Ack, it won't budge!"

"Pull harder!"

"You can just cut them off with this." One waved a pair of scissors around.

"N-N-No... s-stop! I-It hurts!" The [h/c] haired girl whimpered in protest, trying to fend off the prying hands of her classmates. "L-Leave me alone...!" Desperately, she shook her shoulders and made a daring attempt to escape but a hand roughly latched onto her arm, preventing her from doing so. "Let me go!"

One of the bullies spat. "Why should we, huh? Nothing good will come out of having those puny things so we're doing you a favour of removing them." He exchanged glances with his friends, a smug grin etched onto his face. "Right guys?"

"That's right!"

"It'd be best if you just become Quirkless."

"Though that wouldn't really make a difference!" One snickered.

Another drawled. "God, you're so annoying, always crying in class. Why can't you just shut up for once and curl into your cocoon or something? Hey, Yuuji, can't you do something about her?"

The leader, Yuuji, quirked his brows up in thought while running his free hand through his jet-blue locks. The girl within his firm grip was staring daggers at him, tears overflowing like a river bursting its banks as she sobbed meekly. She was always like this; mopping and bawling her eyes out till the whites in her eyes stung with the bright colour red. Her stubby nails were clawing at the boy's arm but he only snorted in response, only strengthening his hold in vexation.

He slit his hazels and narrowed them into a cold, cold glare. "... I hate people like you."

"... S-Stop..."

"I wonder what happens when a butterfly loses its wings...?" The leader clicked his tongue, hauling a fistful of the girl's silky strands and forcing her to crack her tear-stained and red [e/c] orbs wide open. "... What do you think, [Surname]-san?"

The distant memory weighing down her mind slowly diminished as [Name] clutched onto reality once again for the nth time, the familiar vivid colours surrounding her bursting in front of her glimmering eyes. The stadium laid undisturbed—the ecstatic excitement earlier contained as Midnight stood on the podium, everyone, including the spectators burning with anticipation, waiting with baited breaths.
