PrinceCharming: Thank you!

HenryMills: oh yeah it's father's day

HenryMills: @NealCassidy @RobinOfLocksley Happy Father's Day!!!

HenryMills: $5 says they don't respond until at least tomorrow

ThatVioletGirl: Henry, you need to be nicer to your parents! They are working very hard!

HenryMills: Fine, fine

HenryMills: I'll give them til Tuesday

ThatVioletGirl: Not quite what I meant

EmmaSwan: HAVE YOU TWO WATCHED RISE YET

EmmaSwan: PLEASE SAY YOU HAVE

HenryMills: I did

ThatVioletGirl: YES I CRIED LIKE EVERY SINGLE EPISODE

LilyPage: Sounds like you and Emma have a lot in common

HenryMills: I'm a little skeptical about Simon's storyline though

ThatVioletGirl: No.

HenryMills: I mean like he really hurt Annabelle and I don't think that should just be brushed off?

ThatVioetGirl: First of all, screw you, Simon Saunders is amazing

HenryMills: well ok this is how we're talking now

ThatVioletGirl: Second, if Nothing But Cancellations had renewed Rise, I'm sure season two would have dealt more with what happened between Simon and Annabelle, but unfortunately, it only got ten episodes

ThatVioletGirl: Third, Simon's story is one of the most authentic and real feeling storylines about a queer teenager that I have ever seen portrayed

ThatVioletGirl: Henry, you have to remember that you've never been in an environment where it wasn't safe for you to come out. Your moms are bi, Robin is demi, Neal has hinted at being bi/pan, even Hook is bi, and Snow and Charming may be straight (idk) but even so, they are very accepting of the lgbtq+ community. You've grown up in a place where it was always safe for you to be yourself, which isn't bad at all, but it means you can't understand where Simon is mentally quite as well

ThatVioletGirl: Simon has been raised to be very Catholic and it's clear that even near the end of the season, he still wants to believe everything he's been taught from birth. He lives in a home where if he even mentions the possibility of being anything other than cis and straight, he would be bullied way back into the closet by his dad. He can't risk coming out and he ESPECIALLY can't risk actually dating a boy! That's why he spends pretty much the entire season hiding from his feelings; because if they're real, everything will fall apart. The bomb inside of him will explode and it could wreck not only his life, but his family's. He kept trying to prove he was straight to himself because it was the only way to stay sane. Even looking his dad in the eye and telling him he was going to do the play no matter what his parents said was a HUGE act of bravery for that kid, and then he proceeded to ask his parents to go back to Stanton and go back to his role of a gay character AND on opening night, he kissed Jeremy even though it was very obvious he was TERRIFIED. Simon Saunders is an amazing character who deserves protection and if I could, I would jump universes and hug him and wrap him in a blanket and tell him how brave he is

HenryMills: Okay, you win

EmmaSwan: Violet, you're literally my new favorite person

EmmaSwan: That was beautiful

EmmaSwan: I'm legitimately tearing up

ZelenaMills: lol ok but what about when simon's dad was chill with all the other stuff that happened in the play but left after one (1) kiss between two boys ? did the other stuff not bother you as much or what ? u were chill w child abuse but being gay is going too far???

EmmaSwan: no zelena i don't think you understand how accurate that scene was

EmmaSwan: I went through many foster homes back in the day and let me tell you. Some people like that will be totally chill with all kinds of horrible stuff as long as it's not affecting them directly but GODS FORBID two boys kiss in a play they don't ever have to see bc "WHAT WILL THE CHILDREN THINK?!?!/?!/!??!1?!!1?!?"

EmmaSwan: Not all Christians/Catholics are like that, don't get me wrong, but there are plenty who are

EmmaSwan: I've seen instances of both

ZelenaMills: huh i guess i didn't realize that was accurate

EmmaSwan: okay, who wants to go back to talking about father's day?

HenryMills: There's not really much left to say...

NealCassidy: @HenryMills thanks, kid

HenryMills: You actually responded!

HenryMills: Also you're welcome

EmmaSwan: We really don't have anything else to talk about?

HenryMills: no i don't think we do

EmmaSwan: aight i guess this is bye for now then
