"Then marry me."
What. Did. He. Just. Say?
I have no words. I'm stumped. I'm shook.
"I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So there is no need to wait. I love you. Emily, marry me."
No words. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
His eyes are sinking into mine. Staring at me. Like a puppy going to the slaughter, begging to get one last treat.
"Ok..." I say, "I'll marry you." I say with a huge smile as a tear streams down my face.
I don't think he quite comprehends it at first. The only sign of him hearing me was his mouth dropping open. I laugh, "Jonah, are you ok?" I say giggling. He is completely star struck. "Yeah, I just didn't think you'd say that." He says surprised.
"Oh, well do you want to take it back?" I ask begging him to say no.
"No! God, no. I've been waiting to do this since our first kiss."
I smile. And then I kiss him. He gets out of bed and puts on his boxers and goes over to his Northface book bag. He takes out a little silver box from one of the pockets. He hands me one is his bigs shirts and I slide it over my body. I slide to the side of our bed and sit on the edge. He takes my hand and kisses it and then let's go. He gets on his knee and pops open the box which has a big, beautiful ring in it. I gasp as he slides the ring on my ring finger. It fits perfectly. "How- how did you- it's the perfect size." I smile and his face lights up. "I may of asked your mom." He says suspiciously. I laugh. "Wait! Does she know?" I say so excited. "Yes, I asked your father and her for their permission when I found out you were coming on tour. Your father said no and your mom said no. But then she texted me your ring size and said 'Congratulations, Jonah!' So I assumed I had her blessing and bought the ring! Simple. I guess." He laughs. I smile at him and then kiss him on the nose, lips, then jaw. "So we're getting married?!" I squeal.
On the other side of the wall.
"They're engaged?!?!" Corbyn yells to Jack. "WHAT THE..."
He was interrupted by Jack, "Frick. What the frick."
Back on the other side.
"Oh my God. Corbyn." I whisper to myself.
"Baby, he's fine. He needs to understand that you and him will never happen." He roles his eyes.
"I know, I know. But he's still my best friend, J." I'm sad. Obviously Jonah can tell, but I don't think he cares.
Then, pounds on the door, almost like an angry, drunk man was trying to break in.
"Corbyn, stop!! Calm down, man!!" We hear Jack yelling from the hallway. "Hey, hey what the frick is your problem?!" I hear Daniel and Zach running down the hall. "Ohhh God, help please." Jonah says irritated. "Emily, get in the bathroom, now, and lock the door. Please."
"No. I'm fine here."
"Em, I don't want him to hurt you."
"He won't hurt me. It's you, you need to be worried about." I tell him, "You know what? You go in the bathroom, babe. Trust me on this one." I tell him and I can tell he's about to argue with me.
The pounding is getting louder and louder and it sounds like there is punching outside.
I quickly push him into the bathroom and lock the door behind him. (The lock is on both sides.)
"EMILY! LET ME OUT!!" He yelled banging on the door.
"Shut up, Jonah! Give me one minute with him. Just one." I say firmly. And he was silent.
I open the door and Corbyn falls in with the boys on top of him. "Hey! All of you, get up!!" I yell.
They all get up and stand in a line in front of me.
"Yes, Corbyn?" I say politely even though I'm about to give him a right hook to the eye.
"You're... marrying him?" He asks as a tear falls from each of his eyes.
