                                                Chapter Four

The whole night I stayed awake wondering what Marcel possibly saw in me, Marcel Styles, the nerdiest boy in the whole damn school. Am I gay? Am I straight? What do I do with this situation? I haven’t even kissed anyone yet; I’m such a loser. Louis could have any guy he wanted so I don’t understand why he would be crushing on me. I sighed when I saw my phone light up with a message from Louis later that night saying, ‘Hey Marcel! I had a great time at your place. :) I left my notebook though so can you give it back to me tomorrow at school?’ Yeah, the notebook that has mine and your initials with a heart on it? I have it all right. I texted him back, ‘Sure Lou. . .can we talk about something tomorrow?’ I wanted to talk to him about his sexuality a little and maybe somehow talk about how I know he likes me, if I get the balls to do it.

A few minutes later Louis texted back again with, ‘We can talk about anything you’d like Marcel. Even if it’s about you know me being into guys, I don’t mind. Good night. x’ I didn’t text back because I had way too much on my mind with Louis and everything. Around five that morning, I got a few hours of sleep before my mum came in. “Marcel come on; get up. You’re usually up by now.”

I groaned rolling around to the other side of my bed. There were so many questions I had for Louis that I didn’t necessarily know how to ask properly. One of my questions is how did he figure out he was gay? And another was what was it like to kiss a boy? Did it feel right? Eventually, after a few minutes, I was dressed then went down to eat breakfast with Harry. “Morning Marcel. How did things go studying and whatnot?” he asked sincerely.

“Okay, I guess,” I said, my voice soft. We didn’t talk the rest of breakfast because Harry could sense I was somewhat stressed probably. When we got in his car Harry looked over at me.

“Marcel is something wrong? Did you and Louis get in a fight?” he frowned a little as he started to drive, the radio turned up loud.

“No. . .everything is fine. Don’t worry about me Harry, yeah? I promise I’m good,” I said forcing a smile. Our car ride was dead silent the rest of the way. My mind was full of worry and questions involving Louis. Did I think he was attractive? More attractive than some of the girls Harry’s brought home? In the middle of my thinking Louis was already at Harry’s car smiling that beautiful smile at me.

“Hey Marcel, you said you wanted to talk?” I only nodded a little as I got out holding my books and Louis’ notebook. “Let’s talk then.” He patted my shoulder than took his notebook quickly.

My mind was all a mess with the thoughts running through my head. “Okay, I have a few questions. How did you know you were gay? Did you kiss a boy? Does it feel. . . right? How can I know if I’m truly straight?” I rambled on almost out of breath.

Louis just smiled, letting a soft chuckle out as he reached for my waist. “Well. . .that’s a very confusing time for any guy my age coming to terms with who he likes. I found out one night when I was having a party when my parents were gone. It eventually ended with me kissing a guy that was a friend, completely sober by the way. I had kissed a few girls but never enjoyed it, but I sure did enjoy that kiss,” he grinned. My heart started racing suddenly hearing his account of kissing a boy at a party. I wondered who he was, but I didn’t want to pry. “Yes, it did feel right. Maybe you could try kissing me to figure out the straight or not thing going on.” I tensed looking at him blushing. “In my opinion, I don’t think I’m that unattractive. What do you say? No one is around since the bell rang. I hadn’t even noticed the bell rang.

I was practically tongue tied; my heart beating fast, I couldn’t make any sound even though my mouth was opened. “I—I—yeah we can. If you’re okay with that?” I whispered, my face completely red. Louis just smiled pulling me in closed by my waist. His lips were suddenly on my mind, soft with a hint of a cherry taste to him. I pressed my lips back against his holding onto his waist as well. My heart was still beating impossibly fast as we pulled away after just a few seconds. “T—That was nice. . .very nice,” I said breathless smiling. If we could I’d kiss Louis again immediately, no doubt about it. There was something was right about the way Louis’ lips felt against mine.
