"Are you sure you want to bring me to your house?" I put an emphasis on "me" so he could understand what he was doing. If his family looked anything like him than I knew I would be out of place. I tried to look somewhat presentable today, being that it was the first day of school, but even on my best day I still looked like a hippo. "I mean you don't even know my name." Dame laughed and looked and me like I was a child.
"Of course I know your name. I just was pretending not to earlier so I didn't seem stalkerish."
That's surprising.
"What do you mean you knew my name? Who told you?" Dame shook his head. "You're the prettiest girl in school. Of course I know your name." I stopped walking and froze. Obviously Dame was either illusional or had the wrong person. Dame noticed I wasn't walking with him and stopped to look at me.
"You're kinda dramatic, ya know?" He sighed and turned serious. "You're more popular than you think Nic. If you weren't, people wouldn't mess with you so much."
Okay. Obviously Dame is new and doesn't understand that people treated me like dirt beneath their shoes. I can't believe he thinks i'm pretty.
I dropped the conversation in my head then. I knew with time he would see what everybody else saw.
And who knows, maybe he'll be the one throwing a football at you next week.
I giggled to myself bitterly. When we got outside I notice that it had stopped raining and the sun was shining. The sun made me happy. One day I planned on moving to a place where the sun always shined.
"You comin or what?" I focused on Dame and notice he was in front of a very expensive looking car. My jaw dropped and I didn't care if it emphasized my double chin. He rolled his eyes at my antics. When I got done drooling over him and his car I climbed into the passenger seat. I buckled my seat belt and we began the journey to his house.

I expected his house to look like the inside of his car, modern and futuristic, but it didn't. Although it was big, It looked very old. I guess Dame noticed my stare.
"My parents are building another house not too far from here. This is just a temporary place to stay while they finish it up."
Okay, that makes sense.
The inside reminded me a lot of the outside. Old and drab. I guess I could still see it's charm. There was an unmistakable antiqueness about the place.
Dame took me to the kitchen and I was hesitant to sit down because I was starting to realize my actions.
Nicole, what have you gotten yourself into.
I realized how bad this was. I was not only ditching school, but I was doing it with a boy I barely knew.
He could be crazy for all I know.
Just as I was about to make up an excuse to leave, a women walked into the kitchen. His mother looked more like a model rather than a doctor. Her dark skin looked very youthful and glowy, and her natural hair was styled up into some sort of elegant twist. Dame and his mother looked very similar. She looked at me and smiled warmly.
"Damien, aren't you going to introduce me to your friend?" I saw the age in her beauty when she smiled.
Damien?
"Mom, this is Nicole, my new friend from school." I stuck my hand out, because it felt like the right thing to do.
"Nice to meet you." I tried to make my smile appear genuine through the nerves. She took my hand firmly and looked into my eyes as if she saw something there.
