I closed the app and sorted out my backpack. It's full of candy wraps and crumpled up old homework.

I stare at the text he just sent me. "come over"? For what reason?

I check the time. 4:39 P.M.

I already knew the answer. I wanted to say yes, but that might surprise him.

I toss my phone on my bed and held my breath, crossing my fingers it won't bounce any higher. Luckily, my phone didn't bounce off the bed and I breathed a sigh of relief. I started packing four pairs of pajamas and stuffed six outfits inside the second largest pocket of my school bag. I decided whether or not to bring my guitar that hung on my wall.

I decided not, maybe I could take a one week long break without it.

I pack my phone charger and look around to see if I need anything else in my room.

My eyes get caught on a little picture frame sitting on my desk.

It was a picture of Shiro and I, genuinely smiling.

We looked so happy.

I wish we continued making those moments.

I walk over to the desk and picked up the delicate item.

I looked around twelve when this picture was taken. I smile and look up at my ceiling.

"Shiro," I whispered. "If you're out there, return home safely."

I looked back down at the picture frame and set it down where it originally sat.

I walked to my bed and sat on it. Lance's going to have to wait an hour until I come over. I'll let him know that I'm staying the weekend in about thirty minutes. But for now I'll find something to do to pass the time. I'll watch some Youtube videos.

~20 minutes pass~

Conspiracy theories are the best.

I put my phone down and looked up at my guitar. It was an old one, one that my dad gave me before he died in that fire trying to protect me.

My phone buzzed and I picked it up. It was Lance.

🔵 made up your mind yet?

🔴 ya

🔵 u staying or not

I thought about how to put my words without sounding too desperate.

🔴 ya sure. it gets pretty lonely at my house.

🔵 okay. cool. i'll wait.

I don't want to wait. I want to go. Now.

🔴 actually, i'm coming over in 10 minutes.

🔵 alright. see u then

I stuffed my phone in my bag and walked to the door. I took a quick glance at my room to see if I forgot anything. I took a deep breath and held it, as for I was leaving the house for an entire week.

I made up my mind and ran back into my room, grabbing the guitar on my wall and placed it safely in my bag.

I ran outside and slid my helmet on, hopping on my bike.

A weekend with Lance.
