Ash returned to Kento after competing in the Alola league. Now back at home, he was wondering what to do next. He realized that he had been feeling strange from quite a while. He did not feel like going on another adventure as he usually does. For some reason it seemed like something was lacking. He felt lonely.
It was noon in the Kento region. Ash was sitting by his open window, looking outside. His mom, Delia Ketchum entered the room. Ash did not notice as she opened the door and walked inside. She looked at Ash. There was a concerned look on her face. She walked up to the bed and sat down. Ash turned his head and saw her. "Are you okay honey? ..You seem down." Delia asked her son. Ash's head was down. He did not say anything. "You can tell me if something is bothering you." Delia said again. Ash looked up. He knew that his mother would always be by his side, but he did not know what to expect. He could not make out what was going on himself. Delia was about to say something again, but Ash decided to be the one to talk this time. "I don't know what's happening to me." He started. "I don't feel like doing anything. It's like something is missing." "Maybe you just need some rest. How about a vacation? It will help you freshen up. "Delia suggested, trying to cheer Ash up. But she knew herself that it would not work. It's not like Ash would ever get tired of training. "I don't know. I haven't felt like this before." Ash said. "You might be missing someone. One of your old friends maybe?" "Maybe. I don't know." Ash's voice was making Delia worried. It was not normal for Ash to sound lost. But by then she knew what was to be done. "OK then, do what I say" Delia started "What?" Ash asked confused "Just calm down. Erase everything from your mind." Ash did not understand what his mom was up to, but still did what he was told. "Now slowly close your eyes and let your heart take control." Ash closed his eyes. A slight smile slowly formed on his lips. Delia saw this and knew her idea might be working. "What do you see?" She asked, very calmly. Ash did not bother to open his eyes and answered, "My Kalos adventures, and......Serena..." He said quietly. The smile still on his face. Seeing Ash like that brought the smile back on Delia's face. 'I get it', she thought.
Far away in the Sinnoh region, it was evening. In the Hearthome City a Pokemon Contest had just finished. The winning coordinator was given her earned ribbon. She smiled looking at the ribbon and held it up in the sky. The whole crowd cheered for her as she and her partner Sylveon enjoyed their moment of triumph. She waved towards the crowd. All their happy faces and smiles made her feel good.
