Chapter 1

I had been walking for what felt like hours.

The sky was no longer grey and full of thunderous clouds, the sky was now clear with exception to the odd cloud.

The temperature had dropped further, the icy winds enticed goosebumps all along my pale skin. My hair knotted further as it blew into the wind.

I climbed further and further away from the cabin.Escaping into the wild.I wasn't ready to face Damon yet.

I wasn't ready to face anyone yet.

The moons silver gaze watched upon the rain sprayed floor. The howls of wolves in the background whistled through my ears.

Damon's jacket drowned my body yet I felt safe, something which had escaped me in the past few months.

The rain had stopped, the odd dribble trickled of the vines and leaves of the ginormous trees.

The woods was silent with exception to the wolves cries ; the fluttering of birds wings, my feet noisily squelching into the muddy debris covered floor, the owls hoot and the screech of tires from the motorway in the distance.

Jumping over the considerably large puddles which were dotted over the forest floor I clutched the mossy bark of the trees to balance myself.Failing miserably I flew forward falling onto my left knee in the depths of the puddle.

sigh.

Yanking my jean clad knee from the puddle I stood up dusted the wet rusty leaves from my body.Giving up my walk I slouched against the thick bark of the tree.

Why me?

The forest trees towered over me,the needles of the pines fell onto the floor and into the knots in my hair .The floor muddy and thickly covered with broken vines and twigs scraped at my shoes and legs.

Closing my eyes I tried to calm my nerves further.Several more minutes passed before I made another movement.I simply stood there under the half moons gaze listening to the scurrying or wild animals and the winds harsh breath.

Finally I decided I should go back.My feet slowly scraped against the debris back towards the cabin.I knew Damon would still be there, waiting for me.We both had some explaining to do

.But that would have to wait till the morning, I was simply to drained to talk about that now.

As I walked further towards the cabin the wolfs cries got louder. Then suddenly they stopped.

Behind me twigs and branches crunched as someone or something walked over the forest floor , towards where I stood.

I froze.

I could hear the harsh sharp breath of the creature and smell its earthy fur. Slowly I turned myself around towards the snapping twigs.

Before me stood a grey and rusty brown wolf.

The wolfs eyes not a dark brown like usually but a mixture of topaz and green.

Its ears twitching forwards and backwards, his breath hot blowing harsh into the frozen air.We both stood staring at each other without breaking a gaze.

Both frozen at a standstill.

The wolf moved slowly forward, its strong legs supporting its body.

The wolf was huge unlike the usual grey wolves.

He was different.

Why or how he was I was unsure.

The wolf kept walking slowly towards me until it was less than a metre away from my feet.

Stopping he bowed his head and froze.

It was like he was beckoning me to stroke him.

As I walked forward the cabins door swung open jerkily.

The noise made the wolf lift its head, howl and with one last glance at me he ran back into the woods.

My heart thundered in my chest, adrenaline cursed through my shaking form. As I stared after the wolf Damon came and stood next to my body.

"The wolfs gone now. Your safe." He hung his arm around my shoulder bringing my body to his chets, comforting me.

Though I should have been scared of the wolf I had only felt a strong attraction, it was as if I had been hypnotised.

Though Damon said the Wolf was gone somehow I knew he would be coming back for me.

My wolf would return.

And I would wait.
