CAMPFIRE……
Michael made some announcements and led them in song. Then divided the group up and had a sing off. They sang three songs and the side who could remember all the words to the songs without hesitating or stopping before the song was done won. They played a name game and all put names in a hat for charades each person drew one and each did their thing. They all had only 2 mins to guess, if no one could guess they went on to the next the ones no one guessed got to choose the next games or things to do before everyone was to go to sleep for the night.
Camper One. When the world’s on your shoulder, gotta straighten up your act and boogie down….
Camper two; If you can’t hang with the feeling, then there’s no room for you
Camper three : This part of town..
Camper four; Cause we’re the party people night and day
Camper Five; Livin’ crazy’s the only way…
All together. So tonight….Gotta leave that nine to five up on the shelf and just enjoy yourself……
Soon the whole campfire group was singing the song.
They sang Rock with you and YMCA again. Then one of the counselors pulled out a guitar and sang soft songs as the campers roasted marshmallows and started to turn in for the night. Many fell asleep Michael’s sleeping bag was next to April’s. He wanted to be near her. She was okay with that too. Michael needed to be near her for his hearts sake and some of the counselors who knew they loved each other were very happy about that and sort of made sure that Michael was next to her so she had little options to move anyway. Secretly, April was okay with it. She actually wanted to be next to him. sort of hoping that he would hold her in the night. They both put their zippers of the sleeping bags facing each other. And Michael left his half down so he could reach into hers. Michael also had a quilt to cover his sleeping bag for extra warmth and that too would hide him reaching for her in the night. This brought a soft smile to his lips.
April closed her eyes but she was listening to them sing softly. Her zipper on her sleeping bag was down halfway facing Michael and she slid her hand out to him he willingly took it…bringing it to his lips and kissing it. There were still lots of campers up and the counselors were watching them yet. But the guitar kept playing and little by little everyone settled down. Michael continued to hold April’s hand.. Michael unzipped his bag more so he could move closer to her. April knew what he was doing and wasn’t sure yet if she was ready for that. But she did want to be held so as everyone started to go to sleep and the guitar player was finishing up for the night, April moved closer to Michael. He smiled at her softly. She smiled at him and bit her lip. He kissed her hand again. Pulling the blanket up to hide most of his face, he mouthed to her.
Michael; mouthing. Can I hold you?
April nodded, Please, she whispers.
Michael reaches his hands into the sleeping bag of April and holds her gently. His hands slowly caress her back and sides…she moves closer a bit and he moves too. Leaning closer to Michael April opens her eyes again. Looking at him. They can hear snores around them. Michael leans over to her and kisses her. The kiss deepens as they move closer. April reaches out to Michael and he holds her. Michael whispers.
Michael; Will you come into my sleeping bag? I just want to hold you. I promise. We won’t do anything you don’t want to do. He looks at her and bites his lip
April; at first was going to say no. but she saw his eyes and knew he was telling her the truth. O-okay. She unzipped her sleeping bag more so it would be easier to move back and forth between the two.
