"Why did it have to be raining? My paws are wet and my pelt is soaked," Silverpaw complains. Her vision is blurry with all the water running down her muzzle and she can't think of a time where she was as uncomfortable as she was now. Accept the time where she looked into Frostpaws eyes and saw nothing but a mix of hurt, anger, and hatred. She shudders, not only because of her soaked pelt, but of the memory that the last thing she said to Frostpaw before he left was yelled towards him.
"You should be glad it's raining. It was the only reason why we sneak away to find Frostpaw," Wolfpaw points out.
"Yeah, but still," She says back, shaking her fur to slightly dry it. Wolfpaw makes an annoyed face.
"Now I'm more wet," he says with humor in his eyes. As they near the Shadowclan border, Silverpaw tries not to gag at the overpowering smell. Wolfpaw's scent was tinted of pine and other unreconizable plants, the scent here was strong and pungent.
"What? Never smelt the glory of Shadowclan," Wolfpaw chuckles.
"What glory," Silverpaw giggles. The smell getting intense as they near in.
"Ha-ha so funny," Wolfpaw says sarcastically. He brushes his pelt with Silverpaw's and she purrs in response.
"I'm soooo hurt", Wolfpaw fakes a sad face, then goes back to his goofy grin.
"I was going for that," Silverpaw teases. Then she hears a crunch. Standing at the other side of the border is a huge Shadowclan cat. Wolfpaw and Silverpaw immediately stop grinning.
"Does hitting on a Thunderclan apprentice have its perks, Wolfpaw?" growls the lone Shadowclan apprentice.
"Hawkpaw I can explain-" Wolfpaw begins.
"Don't even, Wolfpaw. I thought you were better than this. You go away for two days and then come back flirting with a Thunderclan apprentice. Do you know how much I worried about you, bro? Your my best friend, I thought you were gone forever. Who would be there to show Marshpaw she's not the best hunter in our den? Or make everyone laugh when we can't fall asleep at night. Just, don't leave me again Wolfpaw," the so called Hawkpaw grumbles, anger and
relief in his eyes.
"I'm sorry Hawkpaw, I really am. But you need to learn to persist without me."
"Why do I need to do that. Unless...Your not leaving Shadowclan, are you?" Hawkpaw's face falls when he realizes that Wolfpaw was doing exactly that. He looks absolutely crestfallen.
"And why would you wanna do that?" Hawkpaw's voice softens at his hopelessness.
"You were a great friend Hawkpaw, but I'm sure you'll realize it when me Silverpaw have a bunch of mini-me's running around, that only one thing could've driven me to do this. Love," Wolfpaw admits, looking strait at Silverpaw.
"Wow, ok. Let's not think that far into the future, we still have to pass our apprenticeship before I even remotely think about having kits. Even now one of you is complete chaos, let alone a whole bunch of mini you's prancing around the place," Silverpaw teases, flicking Wolfpaw with her tail.
"Omg Wolfpaw you are such a hopeless romantic," Hawkpaw mumbles, a disgusted expression on his face.
"I guess it's best if your future kits are in Thunderclan instead of Shadowclan. I'd be scared surrounded by little Wolfpaw's anyway. I'm just surprised you're actually gonna leave. Silverpaw where is the real Wolfpaw and what have you done with him?" Hawkpaw starts.
"Well it's been chill chatting with you Hawkpaw, but me and Silverpaw gotta speak with Goldenstar to tell him the news," Wolfpaw farewells.
"K, bye. And when you have kits I fully expect you to name one of them Hawkkit," Hawkpaw jokes.
Finally, it's been long enough, Frostpaw's scent is washing away, we gotta make this quick, Silverpaw tells herself, dashing across the border, following Wolfpaw's lead.
