"How many people know about this?" I asked, "How many writers, that is." I clarified.
"Not very many." Shimmer admitted. She took my hand gently and said, "Come on. There are some people that I think you'd be excited to meet."
I let the faerie lead me around. Pan seemed to know what was coming, as he had this... anticipatory look on his face. I was pretty sure I knew what Shimmer was doing, but I wasn't sure on the specifics. I don't know why, but my breathing was really heavy.
The journey to this place... this room that Shimmer was leading me to was really short. In front of me was a door that looked like the bedroom door of Boo from Monster's Inc. Well, I couldn't have asked for a better clue.
Shimmer turned the doorknob slightly and the flowered door opened by itself. I had a feeling what was coming when I saw that door, but I never imagined it to this scale. There were characters... everywhere. The room was filled with more characters than I could count as well as furniture from all sorts of time periods. I saw a guy that looked like Morgan Freeman sitting in a red bean bag chair and beside him on the floor were Lilo and Stitch, Mae from Spirited Away, Belle from Beauty and the Beast among other characters. The dark-skinned look-alike seemed to be telling some sort of wild story, from what I could gleam from his hand gestures.
On the couch talking animatedly and as quickly as squirrels were Penny from The Proud Family and Ferb of Phineas and Ferb. Those were just the characters that were sitting down. There were so many more characters that I could point out. There were people like Inspector Gadget, Gibbs from NCIS, Nancy Drew and Aladdin. There were a lot of others that I didn't recognize. Some were speaking other languages. I caught a little bit of French, some Spanish and something that sounded Oriental.
I looked at my friends and grinned. Not a second later did I notice that Sherlock wasn't with us. I scanned around the room and noticed him talking to a man with blond hair and a moustache. Both men looked happy and excited to see each other.
It took me a minute to realize who the blond man was. Army doctor from Afghanistan and flat mate to Sherlock, Dr. John Watson. I grinned toothily as I recognized the army doctor. Then I saw a man beside the Johnlock pair. He had brown hair that spiked up in the front and a thin face. He wore a blue pinstriped suit underneath a long brown overcoat. Red converse finished off the outfit. I couldn't hold back my fan-girl squee. This was David Tennant--or more accurately, the Doctor--that stood not more than 10 feet away.
I forced myself to move past the hot awesomeness of the Doctor and searched for more recognizable characters. I saw a girl that looked like Dorothy from Wizard of Oz and twins that looked German. I assumed they were Hansel and Gretel.
There were characters from manga too. Characters like Ash Ketchum, Yuki from Vampire Knight, and Yami Yugi (Dark Yugi) from Yu-Gi-Oh!. I tried really hard to look away from the Doctor but... he was the Doctor! Haven't you ever had a celebrity crush? Don't deny it. We all have. Well. He was standing right there in that pinstriped suit and overcoat. Shimmer led me to different characters, introducing me to really bland, cardboard cut-out characters. Well, I guess it fit that they were cardboard-like because... well, Shim was supposed to be cardboard.
That was low. I'm sorry, Shim.
She finally let me go and "explore." I was like a 5 year old in a candy shop after spotting their favourite candy. I darted straight to the Doctor. He saw me coming from halfway across the room. When I was closer to him, I saw him reach a single eyebrow towards his spiky hair, leaving his signature dented eyebrow lowered over his right eye.
"'Ello there." he said, his accent coming through loud and clear. I grinned and tried once again to hold back my squee of fangirling. "Can I help you?" the Doctor asked.
