Childhood Friends

Kim's P.O.V

Even though I quite like my job at Tokyo Toys -the anime shop- I was happy that my shift was over. It had been a long day and I was quite tired. Dan had ever so kindly offered to walk with us back to our apartment which I found weird because he never does that.

We all had some kind of weird conversation which started off about Anime, then moved on to boy bands, then Pokémon and after a while I had began to tune out. I was in my own world again. Just kicking stones across the pavement while Dan and Lauryn carried on talking about their favourite Pokémon and music interests.

"Kim!" I heard Lauryn's voice trying to warn me but not quick enough. I wasn't looking where I was going and accidentally bumped into someone.

"Oh god, I'm so sorry!" I quickly apologised before looking up at the boy. I instantly met his deep blue eyes. I seemed to go in some kind of trance. He was beautiful. He was tall with black, fluffy hair swept to one side. He stood straight wearing black skinny jeans and a cute cat T-shirt.

He giggled quietly before replying. "No worries. It's fine." He grinned.

I couldn't take my eyes off of this boy and only realised that he had sent me into another weird trance when I heard Lauryn's voice which brought me back to reality.

"Phil?" She said.

He turned and looked at her. "Lauryn?"

It caught me off guard when they both suddenly hugged each other and asked each other things like "how have you been?", "I haven't seen you in years." And "wow you've changed so much."

I forced a cough to catch their attention. "So you guys know each other then?"

"Yeah, we used to be best friends in secondary school." Lauryn confirmed. "I should probably introduce you two!"

I nodded quite nervously.

"Phil, this is Kim. Kim, this is Phil." She smiled.

Phil and I shook hands and exchanged smiles. I didn't want to fall into another trance and I felt extremely awkward so I decided it would be best to leave. "Um, maybe we should go."

"Yeah okay." Dan and Lauryn replied in unison.

"I'll see you around?" Phil asked. I couldn't hold back the blush I felt creeping on my cheeks.

"Sure." I smiled before walking home with the others.
