Maine and her date were dropped of before I was.
Before she alighted from the car, she reached over and squeezed my hand. I've been craving her touch for a year now. That small contact made my insides go haywire.
She gave me a smile before she turned her back and closed the door. I watched as they walked away, the potato placing his hand on her lower back. I wanted to get out of the car and mash his face in. But I didn't have the right to. Maine only said that she would explain things. It's not like she said that she and I could pick up where we left off. But even as I quashed my expectations, there was still a small part of me that couldn't help but hope.
Truth be told, unless she gets married to someone else, I am always going to root for us.
The Grab driver caught me looking at them longingly.
"Sir, magkakilala ba kayo ni ma'am?" he asked unabashedly.
"Bakit niyo ho natanong, kuya?"
"Napansin ko kasi kanina iba yung tinginan niyo. May something."
That made me chuckle.
"Ex ko, kuya."
He nodded, "Sabi na nga ba eh. Sa dinami-dami ng Grab share, talagang kayong dalawa pa yung nagkasabay ano? Ang galing."
"Nagkasabay nga kami, kuya. May iba naman siyang kasama."
"Sus. Yun? Mas gwapo kayo dun, sir."
Someone was getting a huge tip.
My phone beeped.
