"Steven, it sounds way too country…" Joe complained, looking entirely annoyed. This was the fifth take the band's done on this song, and none of the takes seemed to 'fit the bill'. "We're not a country band… We're a rock band. I mean, it was cool when we did that cover of 'Once Is Enough', but we just don't do country." He continued, making Steven's nerves fizzle out.

"Shit man, I know! I fucking know!" Steven groaned, sitting back in the large leather studio chair. He closed his eyes for a moment and kicked back, seemingly deep in thought. After a long pause, he opened his eyes and looking at his guitarist, the rest of the band and the record's producers sitting close by in anticipation. "Do you think we should get someone in?"

"I don't know any country singers, if that's what you're implying…" Joe rolled his eyes. The entire band was tired and everyone just needed a break. Which is exactly what they got when Steven realized he did know a country singer… A gorgeous one in fact.

He always had a bit of a thing for Carrie Underwood… Ever since they performed together back in 2011, Steven thought very highly of Carrie - in every sense of the word. He thought she was gorgeous, intelligent, funny, spunky, and one hell of a singer. He wouldn't go as far as saying he loved her, but he could definitely say there was a bit of an infatuation blossoming.

While the rest of the band took a break, Steven left the room to make a call to Carrie, hoping she'd answer - though the two exchanged numbers back in 2011 when they first performed together, they haven't spoken in months. Nervously, Steven dialed in her number and waited as the line rang a few times. Once, twice, three times it rang and he was sure she wasn't going to answer.

"Hey, Steven!" Carrie's delightfully playful voice rang into his ear, making him grin.

"Hey sweet cheeks," Steven grinned, purring softly. "Are you busy? I've got a big favor to ask."

"Well, busy as in right now? Or busy as in the next week or so?" She questioned, all playfulness draining from her voice. "I'm in LA right now."

"Perfect!" He laughed. "I am too! The boys are I are down at the studios and we need your help with a track, if you're up for it. We've got a new song for the album, but the bands says I sound way too country on it… The fuckers… I was hoping you could duet with me and balance me out."

"Oh, Steven I'd love to," She sighed, getting Steven's hopes up. "But I'm flying out to New York tomorrow morning… Maybe I could stop by the studio tonight and see if there's anything I could help you with?"

"Perfect!" Steven grinned. "Just come down whenever. We'll be here just working on what we can."

They eventually said their goodbye's, leaving Steven with a triumphant grin on his big lips. Joe and Tom both noticed this when they saw their singer walking back into the mixing room, each with an amused smirk on their faces.

"So?" Joe raised an eyebrow, expecting Steven to gloat about whatever singer he'd gotten them.

"Carrie Underwood said she'll be here soon." He chuckled.

Joe's amused expression fell and it was obvious that he wasn't entirely pleased with the person Steven chose to be his duet partner, though Tom was ecstatic - he and his wife are both fans of Carrie's.

"Carrie Underwood? Really?" Joe continued strumming and stretching the strings of his gold-top Les Paul, caressing it like a lover. "I'm not so sure that'll work, Steven…"

"Why not? We did a pretty fuckin' awesome job back at the CMT awards last year. Our voices go well together." He defended, earning a scowl from Joe.
