October 2, 1994

I thought back as I listened to the tea kettle boil and squeal on the stove, while my daughter and my husband waited for me in the living room, as she'd just gotten back from Paris and was here to tell us all about her trip. It only seemed like just yesterday that Scarlet told us she was pregnant, and here we are, just eight and a half short months later, awaiting a beautiful baby. We didn't know the sex of the baby because she wanted it to be a suprise - we spent the last eight months coming up with lists of baby names for her and her boyfriend to choose from when the baby arrives and it's been amazing and exciting and we just can't wait.

Finally, I poured the boiling water into the three cups of tea I had prepared with bags, grabbed a small saucer of lemon slices and a small jug of milk and brought it all out to the livingroom, placing it on the coffee table in front of the couch.

"So Scar, tell me baby, are you excited?" I smiled, plopping down on the couch next to Jimmy as he put his arm around me. We all took our cups of tea and began sipping them daintily as we made small talk about the baby.

"Oh god, yes…" She chuckled, looking down at her protruding baby bump - she looked exactly as I had nearly twenty five years ago, when I was first pregnant with James, only difference being that Scarlet has long straight blonde hair, where as mine is curlier than Robert Plant's. "Tommy and I are so excited but… But I think I'm more nervous than anything…"

"Well, it's only normal," I smiled, glancing at Jimmy who was already looking down at me, a huge smile on his lips. "Your father and I were nearly panicking the weeks before James was born, then again when you arrived."

"Of course it did make it easier the first time round, knowing that a few short months after your brother was born, I'd be marrying this gorgeous woman." Jimmy grinned cuddling me closer to him. I giggled and kissed his shoulder before going back and sipping my tea.

Scarlet smiled at us and sighed happily, looking down at her left hand before a huge grin took over her lips. "Mum… Dad… I need to tell you something.."

I looked between my husband and my daughter, Scarlet, nervously. Jimmy seemed to do the same, glancing at me with worry in his green eyes. She seemed happy, so I assumed the news wasn't all that bad, but I still worried because she's my daughter and I only want the best for her.

"I should've told you sooner… But Tommy proposed… Mum, Dad, I'm getting married!" She giggled and finally looked up from the ring on her finger, which suprisingly neither Jimmy or I had noticed before, and at us.

I turned to look at Jimmy, involuntary tears forming in my ice blue eyes. Jimmy had his mouth popped open and black curls framing his face, impeeding a perfect view of his reaction. I knew he was incredibly happy, but he was about to cry and din't want to show it. Jimmy was so so pleased that his little girl was finally getting married, especially since she was pregnant and he didn't want to watch her be stranded, but he was a possessive man and it nearly broke his heart to have to give his little girl away.

I saw that look in his eyes that showed exactly two halves of himself battling for dominence over his emotions. For once, my husband was entirely opened, bearing heart and soul on his sleeve instead of being as opaque as he often is. Giving him his space to think about how to properly react, I got up from the couch and ran around the coffee table, scooping my daughter in my arms and hugging her tightly, so tightly in fact that I actually lifted her off the love-seat she was sat down in.

"Ohh, my baby girl!" I giggled happily, like I was a teenager hugging one of my best friends over some good gossip. "I'm so happy! Come on, let me see the ring!" I sat myself down next to her and took a good look at the rock that sat on the fourth finger of her left hand. It was stunning - a single large diamond fastened to an elegant silver band, with words engraved on the outside of it. It was so beautiful and perfectly fit for a girl as beautiful as my daughter.
