"LEAVE IT ALONE!"
Spyder snapped at the vile excuse of a brother he had. He was oldest and the man of the house since his father died but that didn't stop his brother's being assholes to him. It didn't help that he was the only one making money for the family either but he tried and that was the main thing. Snatching the bear from his brother's hands he looked over the creature "great" he muttered, the eyes had been torn out and he'd have to find a way to stitch them back together again. If he had time. He was due to his boss and the family for something or other but he wasn't entirely sure why. He had already clocked on to his daughter, the thick black hair, the bright blue eyes. He was sure it was her but she was so little, only fourteen whilst he was 23.
Octavia gripped tightly to her father's hand as they stood in the doorway but her father would have to rush off. Octavia's older sister had been rushed to the hospital in labour, leaving a very excited Octavia to await the arrival of her naive or nephew. Her brothers offered Spyder to stay the night seeing as he had travelled so far already and Spyder happily accepted. As he dropped his bag on the ground he rummaged through it a moment, pulling out the sightless bear. Octavia laughed a little at it as she took it from his hand "it has no eyes" she pointed out. To which he too laughed "and would that make you love him any less?" He asked. She smiled and looked from the bear to him.
"I suppose not"
She held a slight pause before asking the male to sit with her on the sofa, her other sister was in the kitchen making tea and her brothers were in the study for a moment. It was almost hard for them to be there ages, they could see it in each others eyes. Octavia finally let out a sigh and crossed her arms over one another.
"well what are we going to do?"
It wasn't a question that required an answer, they had their own rules to go along with this and that was that they didn't kill themselves till they were at least 18. Spyder ruffled her hair with a grin on his face.
"We could wait and you could marry an older man"
Spyder joked, to see Octavia put a hand to her chest in mock shock
"oh my Spyder, is that a proposal, you should know to take a lady to dinner first"
The two joked and laughed for a while not noticing her brother step to the door, he did love to watch his sister play and having just heard some worrying news from their father it was better to see her happy now. The happiness didn't last long however as in a spur of the moment, she grabbed Spyder's face and pulled him closer. Lips untouching as Spyder tried to pull away but he did not to as a sharp pull on his arm, dragged him to the floor. She was young and naive in her families eyes, she wanted so desperately to be an adult again. Leaving Spyder on the floor, Octavia's brother grabbed hold of the screaming child as she tried to kick away from the man.
"it's gonna be ok, I'm sorry, Octavia"
His cries to her barely heard over her own as Spyder was soon arrested, it was his word against theirs and when all three of her siblings had said Spyder was trying to touch her they had made up their mind. Spyder however wouldn't go down that easy. His behaviour seemed that of a crazy man, his desperate attempts to escape only ended him in Belfast District Lunatic Asylum. Others 'like him' were there too, the way they spoke and asked him questions about Octavia made him sick to his stomach. Octavia was beside herself, all she had to do was wait a little longer, it was only supposed to be one innocent kiss. She decided not to wait, she wouldn't wait until she was 18, not this time. She couldn't take the memory of this life, it blurred out the others.
The straps around his ankles and wrists weren't all that tight but the cold water and ice over his body made it hard to move. Lips and fingers blue he tried his best to struggle but he'd been like that for an hour. Slowly working away at the strap on his right. Suddenly it released, he'd managed to struggle his numb hand out of it and began to brush the ice off himself.
Octavia ran her fingers over the knives in the drawer, choosing the biggest one in the hopes that would end things the quickest. Her breath hitched slightly when she heard the door open, so she bolted upstairs to be alone. She slammed the door behind her, rolling the knife in her hands.
He was free, well his body was free. Spyder could already feel his soul clawing at the cage of this body as he stumbled to the table, his numb toes making trip. The table felt just as cold as the ice bath, in fact the entire room was cold. His hand shook, but not in fear as he grabbed the scalpel that lay on the table. This was it. In one movement he brought the scalpel to his neck, piercing his throat as hot blood poured either side of the blade. His body fell to the ground, eyes wide as he gasped for air but he didn't want to breath anyway. It wasn't long till his body slowed, a stillness hanging over the room.
A baby's scream awoke Octavia, had she fallen asleep? She quickly wiped tears off her cheeks, some were dried to her face but others were still wet. Her sister was home, the with her. Curiously Octavia stood, tucking the knife in her tights so no one would take it from her. She followed her sister to the nursery where she saw him. Her nephew, so small, dark haired at green eyed. She sighed as she looked over Mary. A slight anger in her eyes, she knew Spyder was dead now and this baby couldn't be part of this family. Octavia didn't say anything as she watched Mary coo over the baby, both happy and healthy.
When Octavia left the room, Mary followed. A look of concern on her face but Octavia really did not appreciate it. As she reached the top of the stairs she stopped "leave me alone Mary!" She snapped at the woman. Mary was still pretty fragile as she slowly stepped closer to Octavia. Her smile was soft and motherly but that didn't stop Octavia pulling out the knife. She had a plan and she wasn't going to let Mary stop her.
"You don't understand Mary!"
She hissed. The knife made Mary jump back a little, heart jumping as she grew fearful of the girl. Octavia only moved a little towards Mary to make her jump again but this time she jumped too far. Slipping on the top step, Mary lost her footing. Her head hit every step as she fell to the ground and when she eventually stopped, baby Spyder started screaming.
"MARY!"
Octavia cried out, she threw the knife down the hallway, watching as her brothers attended to the woman. She was frozen, Octavia could barely even breath but as Spyder's screams pierced her ears she ran. Bursting into the nursery she took the infant in her arms.
"I'm sorry"
She whispered. Her hand pinched his nose and covered his mouth but only for a second before she stopped herself.
"No, no, it's not time yet, it's gonna be ok, it's not time to go yet"
She muttered, rocking the infant Spyder as he slowly fell asleep in her arms.
