(Before I start, sorry for not updating for 5 days haha. I've been distracted with court stuff and I got done with camping a few days ago so I never really had enough time on my hands to update. That's all)
"Wher-wha- How- then should you have been late to?" I said.
"Well, not technically because I'm capable of walking faster than a mile an hour, ry."
That sentence felt kinda wierd, and at first I didn't realize why.
Oh. He called me ry. That's the name Shane gave me, and coming from Garrett it felt wierd.
"You called me ry" I said.
"Oh. Did I? Wierd. I guess I'm just so used to Shane saying it."
"You've only heard him say it to me a few times." I say.
"Well, keep in mind he talks about you a lot to us."
I looked at him with a 'really?' Type of look and he just said
"I said to much. Oops."
<time skip to lunch>
Garrett keeps rambling on about something annoying and asking me questions. After he finishes, he asks me another question, hopefully the last one."Are you a hufflepuff?"
I roll my eyes and look somewhere else and eventually decide that I'm not hungry.
I stand up and Garrett looks at me with a confused face
"Where are you going?"
"I'm not hungry."
"Are you sure? You didn't eat any breakfast today and your usually a pretty hungry person."
"I'm not hungry, Garrett."
"Alright, I'll see ya in the next class then."
I just waved and walked off, I didn't feel like dealing with anything right now.
I decided to go out to the field, because why not.
I walk out and Shane isn't there, so I just assume he's at lunch still or whatever. But instead of sitting in my usual spot I went down to the very end and climbed up a tree that was sitting there all alone. I sat up there thinking.
Or I guess,
Daydreaming.
-Shane's POV-
I went to lunch after kissing Ryland in the halls.
I can't believe that just happened.
But whatever, I'm starving. I sit down with my food with some other people that I consider to be my friends.
"Hey Shane!"
"Hey joey! Hey Daniel! Hey Tana!" (We got the whole damn squad)
They all waved back at me and I sat down and decided to listen to one of Tanas story's about something or another. She always has a story to tell. (Haha get it I'm so funny)
I look around at Garrett's table and notice an empty seat that Ryland would usually be sitting in with a tray of uneaten food.
Garrett is just talking to Trish and drew, not even acknowledging that Ryland isn't there.
I excuse myself from my table and go up to Garrett
"Hey Garrett?"
"Oh hey Shane, what's up?" He says happily.
"Uh... wheres ryland?" I say with a bit of worry.
"Oh, cute, your worried. You guys are my OTP. Anyways, he just left saying he wasn't hungry. I'm not sure where he went."
"Oh." I say flatly.
"Ok."
It's my best guess that he's in the field, because obvious reasons. So I walk out and go to our usual spot, and for some reason he's not there. I go over to other areas in the field and still don't see him, so I walk over to a lonesome tree and sit at the bottom.
-Ryland POV-
I hear some leave crunch beneath me and I look down to see Shane sitting against the tree.
"Shane?" I say.
"Wha- Jesus Christ Ryland you scared the shit out of me, I was looking for you for like 10 minutes, jeez."
"Oh. Sorry. Why don't you come up here with me?"
"Me? I'm gonna break that tree Ryland."
"Shane, no your not. I promise."
"Fine, but if I break it you owe me $20."
"Deal"
Shane climbs up and sits next to me, with that same look he gave me in class. I look at him and decide that it's better to kiss him before he kills me because that look is scaring me a little bit.
But before I can, Shane says something.
"Can I kiss you?"
"I mean, you already have so you don't really have to ask."
He just looks at me again and I kiss him.
Once we finish our kiss, Shane looks at me ready to say something.
"Ry?"
"Yeah?"
"I can't date you. Well, atleast not in public."
"Why not?"
"Because I'm not out to my parents yet. Or anyone else but your friend group and mine."
"So your only out to Garrett, joey, Daniel, Trish, drew, and Tana?"
"Pretty much."
"Wow ok. Why aren't you out to your parents?"
"Because my.." He mumbles the rest so I can't hear him.
"Shane, I couldn't hear literally anything you just said."
"Because..." He says again.
"Shane, just tell me. It can't be that bad."
"It's because my parents are homophobic, ok?!" He says with a slightly upset voice.
"I didn't mean to upset you Shane, but your parents should accept you no matter what."
"They won't, and you didn't upset me, I'm just having a tough day."
"Well, that sucks Shane. I'm really sorry."
"It's fine ry."
We sit there in a slightly but not to awkward silence.
After a while, I say something.
"Can we date in private? Maybe only the people you came out to can know?"
"Oh. I didn't think about that. Sure."
"So, as garrett would say, 'it's official!'"
He gives a small laugh and says
"Yeah, it's official."
