First of all, sorry that this is today and not yesterday. I know I said I would finish scoring the submission entries yesterday, and I didn't. Sorry about that.

But here's the winners for contest i!

Third place, with a score of 61/70, is actually a tie. So good job to moonlightshadow412  with Brief-Case and greyfarrell  with When You Kiss A Jock!

These stories are very different in terms of plot — one is a short, engaging mystery, and the other is a character-driven high-school love story — but both have great plots, grammar, and pacing. Nice job!

Second place is cosmicallychaotic with Sam, a total of 62/70 points. This story was short, but made me cry and had an engaging writing style. Good job!

And first, with 62.5/70, is MegSefton with Clear Vision. This story really only lost a lot of points for the ending, as it doesn't seem to be complete yet, but every line of this story was amazing. It's obvious a lot of time and research went into it, and the characters and storyline are fantastic. Great job!

For everyone else, great job. I'm not going to tag everyone because that would take forever, but I encourage all of you to read everyone else's entries. They all have something great in them:

Roses has a wild twist you won't see coming

Moon and Stars has cute characters and is a great feel-good story

Jeremy's Singularity is very clever and really makes you think

Random Thoughts of a Serial Killer has a really intriguing writing style

Castles in the Sand has you wondering if the characters made the right choices

Notes for Her is a sweet love story with a sad ending

I Promise You US has a touching declaration of love

Time Travel is very informative

Beneath the Pink Iron Veil is creepy and the ending leaves you guessing what's true and what's not

Locked Up is mildly disturbing with a great unreliable narrator

A Journey To the Past has fantastic description

Love, Juliette is a heartbreaking twist on an old story

The End is a quick read that leaves you wondering who the characters really are

A Short Magical Encounter is a sweet story you can totally see being made into a children's book

Yvonne's Swan Song has a feel-good ending and could also be a great kids' book

Overwatered is nicely-paced and leaves you wondering the characters' guilt in the situation

So there you have it! What do y'all think? I initially started writing up really detailed analyses on the stories, but it was taking forever, so I can't post those for everyone.

How did you feel about this contest? Was it judged quickly? Should I hold more?

Also, winners get their stickers in a pm, remind me if I forget but I'll try to have those out soon.

Also, the participant sticker in the 'stickers!' chapter is free for anyone to use, and your stories will remain in the "contest i" reading list, so that's good publicity!

So, I encourage you all to read the winners' books, and to also pick three other books and read them too. Leave a nice and constructive comment on them. Nobody's perfect, and hopefully this can be a learning experience for all of us.

Also, you can check out my stories on lepus_leporis  , I have some short stories and a couple longer things as well.

This was a great first contest; everyone was very respectful and I enjoyed that a lot. I also liked reading all the stories.

Good luck to whatever you do next!
