Alexa's POV

I had only one day to prepare for this party and while I was shopping for my new wardrobe, I seem to have forgotten to buy a few dresses. So here I was, at the mall dress shopping with my mom. I can't possibly become anymore of a loser. Well, it's not my fault my only friend backstabbed me.

My fingers flicked through the variety of dresses on the rack at Macy's.

"What kind of dress are you looking for?" my mom asked, her eyes focused on the dresses on the wall.

"Something fancy, but not too fancy," I replied.

"Like this?" she asked, lifting up a long, sparkly red dress.

"That's a prom dress, Mom." I rolled my eyes with a smile on my lips. She returned the dress back where it belonged while we continued our manhunt.

The next dress I saw nearly made my eyes bulge out. It was perfect. I picked it out in my size and rushed to the dressing room.

I quickly stripped from my clothes and slipped into the dress. It hugged my nonexistent curves perfectly. It was black with lace corner sleeves with a bow-shaped belt around the waist. The hem of the dress was almost an inch above my knees. Perfect.

The dress was a solid $50 that I easily paid for with the swipe of my debit card that was given to me on my 16th birthday. Mom had to leave due to an emergency call from work. Her new job seemed to be doing her well.

As I walked out of the last store of the day, Topshop, I bumped into a solid figure, causing me to stagger backwards.

"I'm so sorry," I quickly said. As soon as my eyes met the familiar brown eyes of Justin, a scowl made its way onto my face. "Actually, I take that back."

I tried to walk around him, but he grabbed my forearm, pulling me back.

"Look Alexa, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to break your heart like that," he said. He ran his fingers through his hair; the same hair that I had crushed an ice cream cone on not even two weeks ago.

"You still did it anyway," I choked out. I blinked away the tears before he could see them forming.

He opened his mouth to say something, but closed it in defeat.

"That's what I thought." I pushed past him and walked away while tears rolled down my cheeks.

"Alexa!"

I rubbed the water from my eyes and turned to face Harry. Of course he was here.

"What do you want?" I snapped.

"What happened?" he asked, concern evident on his features.

"None of your business. Just please, leave me alone." I twirled around and hastened my pace, determined to get out of this place before I saw anyone else familiar. Luckily, he didn't follow me.
