Chapter 4

Sam's POV

Brennen grabbed Colby's wrist very tightly. As soon as that contact was made, Colby started shaking terribly. I can tell his legs were about to give up on him. I tried grabbing Brennen's hand to push him away but he strong. After a few seconds I was able to get his hand away. He just smirked and looked at us.

Colby started hyperventilating and soon tears were streaming down his face. I knew what was happening so I held him close but not before he almost fell to the ground. I quickly caught him and hugged him tightly. I whispered small reminders that I'm there and that everything is okay in his ear. He kept sobbing and I soon saw two police cars coming towards the school. I recognized the driver of the first car and quickly yell at them. "It's them!!! That's Brennen and his group!!!", I yelled already knowing what they're here for. I pointed at Brennen and his group. They tried running away but the popular group that stood near the gate, or as the school likes to call them, the Vlogsquad caught on to what was happening and ran after Brennen and his group. They were able to bring them back to the police and I was thankful. Brennen kept asking what was wrong but he and his group already knew. They were taken to the cars with handcuffs and soon it all ended.

I went back to calming down Colby, still whispering in his ear. His cries were calming down and he was soon able to take long deep breaths. The Squad came over and the leader, I guess you can call him, David, came. "Now you don't have to answer us but we were just wondering what Brennen and his group did...", he asked very softly. I always noticed that David was a very energetic person who was always playfully bossy I guess you can say so seeing him here with concern all over his face was a bit weird to see. "Let's just say he committed a 261...", I said. (I'm sorry if this police code is incorrect I searched it up and this is what I got) One of the Squad members, Matt -being a smart person-gasped, already knowing what happened. The other members looked at him with confused but curious looks. He looked at me and mouthed May I? to me. I thought for a moment and told him yes.

I knew that the Squad wouldn't say anything so I trusted them. Matt pulled them a few feet away from us and quietly told them. They all gasped looking shocked. Some even had tears in their eyes, looking at me and Colby. David and his best friend, from what I heard, Alex, came over to us. The rest couldn't even move from the spot they were on. "We're...very sorry for what happened...", said David. I noticed that his voice croaked and it was quiet as he told me this. I smiled very softly and said thanks.

I looked at my phone and realized that it was close to second period and we weren't even in the school yet. Colby was just staring at the cement sidewalk since we were still on the ground holding each other. I told him about school but he kept staring. I knew that he was drained and not just from energy but from everything. I gently turned his head so he was facing me and I looked at his eyes. They were still ocean blue but they were very dull and empty. I hugged him tightly and he leaned into my chest.

I looked over and saw that the Squad were having a small meeting. They then turned to us and walked over. "We were wondering if you guys wanted to head to the mall? It's still early in the morning so there aren't many people...", asked David very softly. I thought it would be a good idea to get away from school. And with little to no people at the mall, I feel like it'll be nice especially since me and Colby will be with the popular group. We'll finally get to see what they're like and I feel like it'll be fun. But I had one concern. "What about the attendance...? Colby's parents will be angry to hear that he didn't go to school", I said. I left out the part of how Colby's parents would've supported the event that happened to him. "Oh we got that covered. Matt's mom is one of the office ladies and coincidentally she happens to be the one who looks over the attendance. She's very chill so with the reason that we have for not coming will be accepted", explained David. I saw Matt nod and pull out his phone.

I saw Colby cling onto me. I looked down at him and saw his pleading eyes. He wanted to get away from school and I understood. I nodded to the Squad and they all smiled brightly. I slowly got up, helping Colby. Matt, Heath, and Scott has cars so we split up and went to each one. Me and Colby hopped onto Matt's and we started heading over to the mall.

~da time skip~

We arrived at the mall and like David said, there weren't many people. Out of all the parking spots in the huge lot there were only about ten cars including the Squad's.

We entered one of the side doors and saw that we were near the kids area with all the rubber playgrounds. Zane and Heath got too carried away and started running towards it. With no-one around and no kids they took advantage. I chuckled at how childish the seniors can get. We started walking towards the playground and saw that Zane and Heath were on an ocean one. I tried to hold in my laugh as I saw Zane trying to go through a small tunnel but couldn't fit. While I was trying to hold in the laugh, the others were basically screaming witches letting their laughs all out. I noticed that all of them took out their phones and started recording. David was the one talking the most and the one who got closer to Zane.

I looked over at Colby and saw a small smile on his face. I was glad he was enjoying it here or at least starting to enjoy it. Once they all stopped recording. They got together and started coming up with skit ideas. Zane and Heath of course wanted to be the little kids. I got a bit confused and curiosity took over me. "Hey um...do you guys always record these kinds of things?", I asked very interested. David was the first to speak. "Well duh! Why do you think we're called the Vlogsquad? Well with the exception of Liza, Kristen, Alex, and Matt. They make more home-videos if ya know what I mean and Matt barely posts at all but we still love him and wouldn't want him out of our group", David finished telling. "So you guys all have like YouTube channels...?", I asked. They all nodded happily. "Ya guys want to be a part of a skit or just want to hang around and be in a normal vlog?", asked Todd. I looked at Colby. He seemed very eager to have some fun but I can tell he doesn't have a lot of energy. "Maybe later...Colby just needs a small boost or something to keep him from being tired". They all nodded and understood. Zane and Heath started recording for their bits of the skit. Soon David, Scott and Todd were recording them. After them it was Carly and Erin. They started acting as the disappointed moms and it was funny. I also noticed how everyone knew when to record and such. As if they had a natural routine or schedule. I was kind of impressed. The other Squad members soon joined Zane and Heath, playing around without recording. Me and Colby played along as well. Colby slowly regaining his strength and energy and also slowly recovering. He had a big goofy smile on his face as he was running around chasing the others.

That smile, his eyes, his goofiness, I love it all. But I'm too afraid of admitting that One day Sam...one day.

A/N: Sorry for the little in-corrections about the home-video people but then again this is an AU, anything can be anything and anything can happen. I also figured out a bit of a schedule. I will update twice a day. One update early in the day and one at night.
