Akuma's skin felt searing hot, and her hands felt as if they were melting. She takes a look downwards, towards her heated hands, and surprisingly, they weren't visibly burnt, but something even more astonishing had happened.
Akuma's hands were gleaming. Her hands were gleaming red.
Akuma flips her hands over, blinking her eyes harshly several times to make sure she wasn't hallucinating. She definitely had not been hallucinating. As quickly as the heat and light from her hands had came, it was gone. Her hands appeared to go back to normal.
Finally having the chance to take in her surroundings, she nearly fainted, double-taking at the sight of the room she had been in. Nearly the entire room seemed to have been up in flames, as ashes and several scorched bodies were tossed around the room. Peices of her own clothing were clearly burnt as well.
Akuma had bits of memories of what she thought had just happened minutes ago. The events leading up to this were unclear, and it seemed as if she blacked out after the experiment went wrong.
Just as she had the time to attempt to figure out what had happened, Akuma was startled as she heard a door behind her open with a slam.
Several armed soldiers began to pile into the room, guns raised and aimed at her. Three people entered the room swiftly behind the soldiers. The two people in lead just happened to be Dr. Tunaki, who was holding a tablet, and the man of which Akuma recognized to be the man who gave the presentation in the first place.
As she lay her eyes on the third man, she begins to back away. The third man was her trainer. Her teacher. The third man was the Winter Soldier.
Akuma feels her hands begin to heat up, nearly reaching the brink of pain.
"Good afternoon, Akuma," spoke the tall man, "please, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Stefan Richter. I hold the position of the director of science here at Hydra, and my second hand, is your mother; Dr. Tunaki."
Akuma didn't care who he was. Even if she had, she couldn't pay her full attention to what he was saying. Akuma's eyes continued to wander over towards the Winter Soldier, making sure he's really there, and making sure he wasn't doing anything.
Feeling secure, Akuma takes a moment to glance back at her mother. Akuma follows her mother's gaze and realizes that Dr. Tunaki's eyes have wondered down to Akuma's hands.
Dr. Tunaki speaks up; "You do know what you've done here today, don't you, Akuma?"
"What are you on about?" Akuma snaps back at the scientist, surprising them all; including herself.
Aiko looks at Akuma with a look of surprise, of which was followed by a more sinister one. "You've become a monster. A monster that kills."
"What? What do you mean? I.. killed?" Akuma knows that she has been an abomination for many forgotten years, but she had never actually gotten to killing yet.
"Oh yes, you little demon, look around you. All of these bodies lay on your shoulders. Yours."
Things begin to piece themselves together in Akuma's head, memories begin to come back. She was a monster. She killed all of the people around her.
"How? How did I do it?"
Aiko sighs. "If you do wish to know, so be it. Have a look," Aiko hands Akuma the tablet she had been holding. Akuma galnces around the room, looking at the soldiers. Each soldier tenses up at the mere gaze she holds. "Go on, Akuma. Press play."
Akuma stares into the tablet, pressing 'play' on the video displayed. It begins to show the surveillance recording of the very room Akuma was standing in. It starts at the moment she was brought up to the raised platform, having the needles injected into her.
In the video, Akuma was bound to the leather table, when currents of energy began surging through her veins like blood.
Akuma was violently shaking on the table, screaming in pain. Scientists were seen backing away, startled by the sudden reaction. That is when things went wrong.
Monitors and machinery began to explode, causing damage to the walls and equipment surrounding. Some of them went up in dark red flames.
Then, Akuma begins to gleam a darkened light. People begin to flee the room, including Stefan and Aiko, but not before retrieving the sceptor.
Flames begin to roll up Akuma's arms and legs, very much making the leather restraints seem as good as trying to hold her back with string.
People were already wounded and on the floor. As she steps off of the platform, A soldier cocks his gun. Akuma snaps around and pushes her arms out to him, waves of flame engulfing him. All that was left was a charred body.
Two other soldiers, who had been hiding under tables, were soon found. Akuma gestures to them, then raises her arm. The men go flying upwards, dropping their assault weapons. When they hit the ground, they hit the ground hard, hundreds of bones breaking in an instant.
At the end of this terror, Akuma sends a wave of fire all around the room, finishing off any life left within the room that could have escaped her.
She is then seen wobbling towards the door, becoming visibly weaker, and the flames of which she had on her body began to fade. Akuma collapses, all of the left over flame going down with her, leaving nothing but ashes. The video ends.
Akuma looks back up at her mother. She feels a wave of emotions, real emotions, all of which she hadn't known she could feel. Sadness, anger, remorse and even pain. She begins to glare, in hate, at the people before her.
Aiko shifts, pointing to Akuma's hands. Akuma takes a look at her hands, raising them up; closer to her face. For some reason, she is not surprised at what she sees.
Her hands are on fire.
Stefan breaks the silence, "We used the alien scepter to enhance you. To grant you powers that no other on earth has. You are now one of our best weapons against Shield," Stefan laughs, he laughs, and says "You're our best weapon against almost anything at this point, actually." When he realizes no one cares for his joke, Stefan coughs, continuing what he had been saying. "We will use you when we have a better understanding of you, and when we are in need of you. Your first mission will be soon." Stefan snaps his fingers. "But right now, you are not needed."
As Akuma had not been paying attention, the flame on her arms appears to react faster than her brain does. Fire crawling up her arms and her legs, she nearly becomes fully engulfed in the unnaturally dark flame. Just nearly.
The last thing Akuma sees is the unmasked face of the Winter Soldier before he hastily knocks her out.
