don't you see, we cant go on forever?

"john..." rose started, but it was too late. tears streamed down his soft cheeks and he started to sob into her shoulder.

"john. you are the most lovable person i've ever met, and i don't want you to ever say otherwise." he looked up and tried to smile, but it just ended in him breaking down again. rose rubbed circles into his back as he clutched her clothes and cried.

"i think..." rose sucked in air, prepared to tell john what he needs to hear.

"i think you should get over dave john. he's no good for you and you deserve better."

john gasped and looked up at rose, slowly realizing shes correct. he slowly nodded, unsure if he can do so.

so i caught the tie

rose met john on the first day of grade one. she immediately felt a rush of heat go up to her face.

"h-h-hi" she said with a small wave and shy smile.

"o-oh. uhh hi! my names john!" he said with a cheerful voice and big smile.

"i'm rose" rose shyly said.

"rose huh?" john said, testing out the name.

"well rose, would you like to be my friend?"

and finally sever

they've been best friends ever since, and roses feelings only grew with time. finally, one faithful day, in grade five, they had a dance.

rose walked up to john sheepishly. he was wearing a ridiculous green slimer suit, but she found it cute.

"so uhhh" she said, fidgeting with her fingers.

"umm..." she started to blush.

"john d-do y-you wanna d-d-dance w-with m-me?" she said, tripping over her words.

john blushed, a bit embarrassed at the situation.

"i'm really sorry rose but, i only like guys...."

"oh." her face fell.

"w-well.... can we just dance as friends then?"

"sure" john smiled.

and that was the day rose found out. it was also the day she let her feelings die, for john's sake.

she cried that day after school. but then she realized.

it was obvious.

and then she realized,

it seemed so obvious.

how could she now have realized?

of course, it was only in grade 7 that john decided to tell her. she was so happy and hugged him.

there were things about dave that gave john hope, and crushed it. for example, daves a player. this means john could be the one to change him, or he could get played. also, dave has dated boys, such as karkat, which gave john the sliver of hope that he could be noticed.

of course, that hope was crushed the day dave barged into school with jade on top of him.
