Chapter Nine

"I can't believe that kid almost got himself killed!" Dad rants.

"Dad-"

"I mean he didn't know what he was doing! He almost died!"

"Dad-"

"And he expects us to just let him walk back out there."

"Tony."

"He's so full of himself. Like a small me! And we don't need another me."

"ANTHONY STARK!" I scream into the phone. He stops and I sigh, "alright now if you'll please listen to me. Dad I think this is a serious threat and Peter is right."

"My god," He groans.

"No seriously dad," I say to him, "Peter showed me the effects and we've rolled back the baby monitor footage- he's not lying."

"I don't think he was," Dad says, "I just don't want him out investigating it."

"Then let me help him," I say quickly, "I've done this kinda thing before- let me help him."

"He's left New York," Happy says butting into the conversation. "It's right here." He shoves the table in front of me.

"Where is he?" Dad asks. I scan the map on the tablet.

"Washing D.C," I tell dad, "now back to what I was saying-"

"Happy call and ask him why he left New York," Dad orders.

"Dad!" I yell, "listen to me."

"I don't need to I've made up my mind. You both are to stay put," He says.

"Dad come on-"

"No I've made up my mind."

"For once in your life listen to me dad!" I yell, "please?" Happy looks over at me and scoffs.

"Fine," Dad says. I sigh.

"Peter and I work well together, we'll do fine if we work together. He needs someone to be there to help him to ease into this superhero stuff. Let me help him," I say to him, "I was taught by the best superhero's this world has to offer. Let me pay it forward."

"No," Dad says plainly, "Happy keep her away from the cases. And watch out for the kid."

"Yeah Yeah sure," Happy says, "bye Tony."

"Bye Happy, Bye N/n," Dad says. I simply end the call. I swear that man was so ridiculous. Never once has he every understood the fact that I can do the same if not more than him. I am an avenger, I was there for Ultron, I helped raid Hydra bases, I was there to help fight and evacuate the city when Loki attacked. I've done everything with him, I've almost lost him time and time again.

"Hello?" I hear Peters voice. I look up to see Happy on the phone with him.

"Got a blip on my screen here. You left New York?" Happy asks.

"Yeah, it's just a school trip. It's nothing," Peter says, "Happy, I gotta say, tracking me without permission...is a complete violation of privacy...That's different."

"What's different?" Happy asks him urgently.

"Nothing. Look, it's just the Academic Decathlon. It's no big deal," Peter says.

"Hey, hey. I'll decide if it's no big deal," Happy says.

"Let me talk to him," I say to Happy. "Please??"

"Sounds like no big deal, but remember, I'm watching you," Happy says.

"Happy please??" I ask. He sighs and hands me the phone. "Hey Peter!"
