Going over chapters and editing them, so the story is turning completely different in some places (sorry, ik how annoying that is 😬)

"Luna?" April Mayard called through her daughters door. She was desperately trying to find her daughter, who had somehow managed to wriggle out of her mother's watchful eye.

"Luna!" she called again. She ran down the halls and checked every door before rushing back into the kitchen and a face of relief washed over the scared one.

Her daughter was in her wolf form, which was a small white wolf with one blue eye and one brown one, jumping among the flowers and snapping at butterflies playfully in their backyard which led to the tall green trees that inhabited the woods behind their cosy home.

Luna Mayard barked before a silver liquid swirled around her to reveal her human form: a young girl at the age of 8, with long dark brown hair that was tied up in a messy knot, and fair skin stood out against the dark strands that fell onto her face. Her bright white healthy teeth shone in the sun as did her eyes, one faded brown and one faded blue.

Luna ran to her mother who embraced the small child with open arms.

"You need to tell me where you're going at all times, darling," the worried mother tutted.

"Yes mummy," Luna grinned, pulling away, then ran back out the garden and the silver liquid formed around her again before she was back happily playing in the flowers.

Present

My name's Luna Mayard, and I have a talent — I can transform into a wolf.

My mother has educated me all about the other supernaturals in the world, like vampires, wolves, zombies, ghosts, fairies, et cetera et cetera.

My father left me at an early age and I haven't seen him ever since I was 3.

I sometimes missed the fatherly hugs he gave me, or the way he picked me up and balanced me on his back while he ran around the backyard. But that was ages ago, and I don't remember much about him anyway. My mother and I figured out how to live; we don't need him anymore.

The only indications that he ever existed was the small locket my mother kept safely tucked away in her jewellery box under her bed — and me of course.

The locket kept a photo of my mother and father holding little 2 year old me and swinging me along the path.

I haven't seen that photo in a few years, but I don't care.

The thing I did mind though, was the fact that whenever I try to find out more about my father, my mother always tries to change the subject or she says that she can't talk.

I get that she's busy... but me being 15 and not knowing my father is kind of ridiculous if he is still alive — which I know he is because my mother always whispers into the phone to my grandmother when she thinks I'm not listening.

"Luna?" my mother called from the kitchen.

"I'm coming!" I call back. I grab my bag and start stuffing books and my pencil case into it as fast as I can.

I grab my earphones and phone off my bedside cabinet and shove them in my jeans pocket. I run through the hall and turn into the kitchen to greet my mum.

"Breakfast is on the table," she tells me, rushing to put my food into my lunchbox.

"I'll do that, mum. Go to work," I tell her, shooing her away before continuing her task for her.

"Thank you darling," my mum said, before grabbing her keys and kissing me on the forehead before saying bye and running out the front door.

I search the fridge for my sandwich, as I'm pretty sure I would be suspended or expelled for taking a raw lamb leg for my lunch.

I find the roast beef sandwich and put it in my lunchbox and take the final bite of my toast before brushing the crumbs off my shirt and grabbing my bag.

I walked through the hall to the front door and grabbed my keys off the hook, before exiting the house and locking the door behind me.

I turn around and inhale the fresh smell of wet morning grass and the growing flowers on either side of the immaculate path that leads to our house.

I step off the doorstep and walk my journey to school.

My mum and I live in a house that's kind of at the corner of town, so we sit away from all the busy roads and the huge buildings, so we live a clean and peaceful life.

Apart from the woods which do have undesirable things wondering in them at night sometimes.

I like the walk to school, because it's just me and I always get time with my thoughts to think about stuff at school, home, trying to pocture what people my mum would take in off the streets... basically anything that's on my mind.

Before I know it, I'm outside of the tall white building that seems to go into the sky and continue forever and ever, reaching past the clouds and sun... the stars.

I shake my head of my thoughts and walk forward into the double doors.

Groups of people — large and small — were all gathered around in little parties gossiping about the latest news or who did what... and who did who of course.

I see the the occasional supernaturals, the goths, the cheerleaders, the jocks; your normal school cliches and stereotypes.

I walk to my locker to see Louise, my best friend. She was also a werewolf, but could control herself in full moons better than most wolves.

I saw she had pink ends to her hair, and I smiled and gave a small wave when she spotted me.

"You went down an edgy route," I smiled, fitting words in before she exploded with the latest news and gossip.

"I wanted a change," she smiled, revealing the gap in between her front two teeth, "I wanted them to match my form, because she has pink tips, and it actually kind of suits me."

"I love them," I tell her, turning to my locker and putting in the code. I opened the door after the lock clicked off and piled my books and my bag into it, grabbing my first few lesson textbooks and notes.

Louise and I had known each other since we were in year 4, where we went to a supernatural class to learn about and meet other supernaturals.

I closed my locker door and Louise and I made our way to our first classes together, Louise not being able to stop going on about this new guy.
