"Boys. Your sister needs you 5 more than ever. She needs all of your support. She needs to know that you guys are there for her, to protect her. She can't have any more of that thing she was going through. You need to make sure she has that reason to stay strong." Dr. Hunt explained.
"You guys, your sister is strong, but she is in a weak spot right now. Anything can get to her right now, but you guys are there to make sure nothing does. Try not to leave her alone." Dr Robbins said.
"What about the nightmares?" I asked.
"They are going to be hard for her, but you just to be there whenever she is scared." Dr Robbins sighed. "Now, the rest of the doctors need to talk to you guys a little bit more." She told us and walked out of the room.
Lucy's POV
"He did what!" I giggled with a grin. My room had become the resident's hang out place for the time I had been here. Well, when it wasn't completely overrun by my brothers and friends.
"He did, kissed me right there." Meredith Grey smiled at me.
"Lucy?" Doctor Robbins knocked on the door. "Can I talk to you for a second?"
"Yeah." I told her. She came in, the 3 residents in my room leaving.
"Lucy. I want to know when the last time you sleep was. I'm not talking medical sleep. I'm talking a full night. One where you didn't wake up with nightmares, go to sleep late because you couldn't' fall asleep, where you actually slept." She asked me. I sighed.
"Since I was 13, in a few months it will be 2 years. I had a dream that I caused the crash that killed my parents. I didn't remember the crash well, so I let that be the only memory I had of it. I learned to control my shouting. I could wake up with no on else waking up.I learned to just go with the fear until it goes away. I learned I can live without someone comforting me. I learned to say I'm not tired, I'm fine." I told her.
"Oh Lucy. You can't let that be your only memory. It was a fake dream." She told me. I nodded.
"I've tried, but nothing works." I explained.
"Lucy. You don't have to be fine, to be not tired, to not need someone there. Your brothers-" I cut her off before she finished.
"Please you can't tell them this. They would never sleep again if they knew I didn't. They think the nightmares are rare." I looked at my feet.
"Lucy, you know maybe they could help." Dr Robbins told me
"Dr Robbins, please. They are everything to me. If they knew this, I would be putting them in more pain then they deserve." I begged.
"Lucy. They are just trying to help." I heard dr. Bailey's voice.
"Great another one on dr Robbins's side." I smiled when she came in.
"Well, not just one." She told me. After her came Sloan, Hunt, Sheppard, Webber, Altman, Torres, and some of the residents.
"Lucy. Your brothers think it just started happening again. They are worried." Torres explained.
"You have to tell them, trust me things will start getting better if you do." Hunt told me.
"I can't let them know. They won't sleep. They are too protective. If they can do anything to help it would just be let me handle it on my own." I told the doctors.
"You can't handle everything on your own." Altman told me.
"Guys, can we have a minute?" Meredith asked. The doctors nodded and stepped out. Only the residents left. "Lucy, why won't you tell them?"
"I've already told you guys. They can't just turn off my nightmares." I told her.
"They can make things better," Izzy explained. "Don't you think being comforted would feel better then just left to fend for yourself?"
"Of course it would, but I can fend for myself. I have for the last 2 years." I told them.
"Then why don't you let it happen?" Christina asked.
"I'm scared, okay? Is that what you wanted to here." I finally blurted out. THey looked at me for a moment.
"Why are you scared?" Alex asked. I stayed quiet.
"Okay residents, up and out, it's the interns turn!" Lexie Grey came in. The residents protested, but Lexie won. They left and she and George came in."So Lucy, why are you scared? I will call your brothers in here and have you explain to them why you are if you don't tell me." She looked at me and they sat by each side of my bed.
"I feel like if I put them through more and more, they will just start leaving, stop coming, like my parents." I looked up at her.
"Lucy, your parent's couldn't come anymore." George told me.
"No, they stopped coming to things long before they died. They left us to fend for us. They never wanted any of us, we just happened. They ignored us. Then, they started arguing. I hated it and my brother's were my support system to get through that." I told them. "When my parents hit that on coming car, they had swerved into the other lane because they were too focused on an argument."
"I feel like I know the answer to this question, but what were they arguing about?" Lexi asked.
"Me. I had been at ballet and they forgot to pick me up, so I started walking. Some cops found me just wandering because I didn't know where I was going. My parent's were arguing about who's job it was to pick me up and who had raised me like the idiot I was for running off." This was coming from memory now. I guess I had never talked about it to remember.
"Lucy Lucy Lucy." George sighed. "You have 5 brothers that rarely people have. You have 2 friends that treat you like a sister. They would never leave you."
"You need to tell them Lucy." Lexi looked at me.
"Thanks guys." I looked at both of them sincerely.
"You guys can come back in!" Lexi called. All the doctors and residents walked back in.
"Your brothers have gotten the lecture and so have you." Robbins stated. "It's time for you to get outta here and not come back until a check up." She told me. I nodded in agreement.
"I like you all, but really, I am not in the mood for another doctor visit." I told them. They all laughed a little and smiled.
-----(at home: Night)-----
I laid on one section of the sectional. Ryder sat near my head. We were watching a movie that neither of us seemed too interested in.
"Don't you have anything better to do than sit with boring old me?" I asked him.
"Old, no. Boring on the other hand, maybe." He smiled at me.
"Ryder, it's almost 10:30, maybe you should get to bed." I told him.
"I'm good." He told me. I leaned up on my elbows and turned best I could to look at him. "Seriously."
"Ryder come on. You are going to hang with your friends tomorrow. You need some sleep." I told him. He sighed.
"Fine, but can I get you anything before you go to sleep, which you will be doing soon?" HE asked. I shook my head. "You sure?" I nodded.
"Noe go, sleep." I urged him away. He stood up, turned off the TV, moved to remote out of my reach and walked upstairs. I snuggled into my blanket and closed my eyes. About ten minutes had gone on and I was close to sleep. I could hear someone talking behind me.
"You think tonight's going to be better?" Alex asked someone.
"I hope." Devan responded. My eyes fell, not to be picked back up.
